Hello all - we live in the mid-Hudson Valley area of New York State and would like to take a three or four day vacation end of July/first week of August. We have a two-year old and don't want to drive more than three hours. I've looked into Mystic, CT, NYC and LI - clearly we waited too long to plan this getaway and accommodations are now far too pricey (would like a two bedroom rental or hotel suite). I've given Sesame Place in PA some consideration but reviews have been mixed and it seems like you're locked into a bad deal if the weather doesn't cooperate. Never thought it would be so hard to find a place for a simple getaway. Know of any best-kept secrets?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks in advance!
Re: Toddler travel ideas?
our son is 2.5 and we just got back from sort-of your area :-) we live in NJ, and did a road trip through NY- Lake George, Long Lake, then up to Vermont- went to the ben and jerry's factory, Vermont Teddy Bear Factory, MAgic Hat Brewery.... it was a nice couple of days.
Not sure if I can help you with where to stay, unless you're into camping. LOL we rented an RV from Cruise America. It really was a great way to travel with a young child because you have everything you need with you all the time (snacks, bathroom, sink, etc). WE stayed at Campgrounds that had full electric and water hook-ups, playgrounds for the kids, pools, other activities.... it really worked out great!
