October 2012 Weddings

Still No Wedding Video...

So, it's coming up on our 9 month anniversary, we still have not received our wedding video, and I'm getting really annoyed!

We booked our video guy without meeting with him, but he came highly recommended by our photographer and we loved all of his videos on his website. His work was definitely the best we saw in the area and we loved his fly-on-the wall approach.  When we did meet with him (before the wedding but after we paid our deposit), he thanked us for trusting his work and for booking him without an initial meeting. He also said that his videos take awhile and that we could expect to wait about 6 months.

We wanted to pick our own music, so in April (6 months after the wedding) we emailed him to ask what the status of the video was and to ask when we needed to get the music to him. He said it would be done sometime in May, so we made sure that he had our music (burned onto a CD) by the end of April.

Being that I'm annoyed, I've been stalking his website to see if he's posted any other videos recently. He has, but they're from weddings that took place in June/July 2012. It appears that he's like a year behind! I also noticed that he's posted teaser videos from weddings that were this Spring and earlier in the summer that he posted like a week after those weddings. We haven't even seen a teaser of our wedding, and that was 9 months ago! I'm super jealous of the couples who got to see a teaser a few days after their wedding!

DH emailed him this week, but he hasn't responded yet.

I know that he's a reputable person and that he's just busy, but I want my video! I checked the reviews on Wedding Wire, and no one has said anything about not getting their video in a timely manner. I know it will be amazing when it's done, but my patience is wearing thin.

  • Umm, yeah, I would be totally annoyed and frustrated!  That's a ridiculously long wait time and for him to be late giving it to you, is even worse.  I hope you guys can get this resolved soon.  If you don't hear back from him within a week, I would express the frustrations and let him know what actions would be taken (disputing the charge with your CC company, leaving a bad review, etc.)  Good luck!!

  • That is so frustrating, even if he is incredibly busy.  I agree with Ystaalenburg about disputing the cc charge or leaving negative reviews about him.  Since he came recommended by your photographer, contact him and let him know the situation.  He won't be so quick to recommend people in the future if he knows that the guy isn't following through with product. 

    This really stinks and I hope you get your video soon!!
