Spotting today - cause?

I'm 11w6d and I had some spotting today. I completely freaked out and called my OB. Thankfully she got me in almost right away and we got to hear the heartbeat and it sounded good. She checked my cervix and saw no signs of bleeding, so we don't really know what caused it. If you've had spotting, what was the cause (if you know)?

Re: Spotting today - cause?
Mine has been unexplained - never could find a reason on US or examination. My doc said that there is just increased blood volume and some women's cervix(es?) are more sensitive.
I'm glad everything was ok!

Mine was (is? hopefully was) unexplained. My RE's nurse said that something like 75% of their IVF patients have spotting.
