Back from 1st OBGYN appt

Hi ladies,

just went through medical history with the nurse. My last period date through her off and I had to remind her that I did IVF. Ha ha. They got 8 vials of blood! Vampires!

I also declined the prenatal testing because I'm having twins and I know that there's a higher chance of false positives. I think they still do the later testing so that'll be fine. Next appt August 1st.

What prenatal testing did you decline? I have never heard of increased false positives. Will you still do NT scan and blood?

the one they check for Down's syndrome and other birth defects. I know that they do it later so I'll just wait for that. I have read several reports stating that there is an increase of false positives with multiples. I had the other testing done.

Yay! We declined the NT scan and all testing prior to the 20 week testing with both my pregnancies as well. I figured whatever was going to be was going to be and if something came back with higher chances at that time it would've just driven me nuts. The anatomy scan should hopefully tell you of any potential problems and I was fine waiting until then.

yup. My DH and I had discussed it before. We will be doing the anatomy scan and that's good for me too.

When is your EDD? I forget how far along you are.

i know! It's February 5th. I'm 10 weeks today.

This is us, too.

Why did they take so much blood from you? When I had my first appointment, they only took 3 (and I thought that was a lot!).

We declined all generic testing, I figure our insurance doesn't cover it in full and it wouldn't change anything if we found out the baby could have a disability.
