Honeymoon-packing

We're going to be going on our honeymoon to Ireland soon (yay!), and I'm starting to think about what we need to pack.  Any advice? (Especially from those who went on a non-tropical honeymoon :)) I tend to be an over-packer, so I'm really going to try to think about re-wearing outfits and such...

Re: Honeymoon-packing

  • I've never been to Ireland, but I've been reading travel advice online to prep for our Italy vacation. I've been to Italy before, but I was 12 and my mom did all the packing LOL!   I'm a major over-packer too, and I know that I need to control that before we leave for Italy. The biggest piece of advice that I've found mentioned over and over again online is to not pack something unless you plan to wear it 3 times. Also, rolling your clothes as you pack them in your suitcase and stuffing socks into shoes saves a lot of space (I do this now when I go to conferences). H and I are thinking about getting those travel space bags as well (the ones where you roll out the air). I'm also looking into buying a travel clothes line (it attaches to a hotel shower) so that we can wash underwear in the sink and not have to bring 3 weeks of underwear with us. I also want to pack shampoo etc. into several small bottles so that I can just throw them out once I finish one. That way, I'm not lugging around big bottles for 3 weeks. I plan on just buying some stuff once I get to Italy so that I don't have to pack it.

The Rick Steves website is where I've been getting most of my travel tips http://www.ricksteves.com

  • Thanks so much! The travel clothes line sounds like a great idea!

  • Yay that's awesome! We went to Ireland for our honeymoon as well. :-) Of course, it depends on the month, but for our October visit, it was about 60 during the day then 45-50 or so at night. It was true "Irish" weather and fairly foggy and sprinkled rain on and off. We totally loved it because that's what we were going for when we were there!

I'd recommend scarves, boots (with tights and a dress or jeans) and light jackets. They are easy to mix around! Of course, it might be warmer when you are there so keep that in mind! Either way, bring an umbrella and drink lots of beer!
