Telling Work Today ***update***

As I posted in M2B, I'm telling work today. I finally found my boss (he was sneaky and came in through the back entrance so I didn't see him) and he said we can talk this afternoon. So, now, it is just a waiting game. I'll update after we talk. Any good vibes you have are appreciated! It's a small company so I'm not sure how often they've dealt with maternity issues.

***updated***

He came and got me early to talk. He congratulated us and said that it is exciting news. I stressed that I love my job and that I am going to try and make this as easy on both the company and myself as possible. He told me that if there is anything they can do to help me to let him know. Which is great. However, he didn't really give me a feel as to what my long-term possibility here is. I told him I was going to talk to HR and he said that HR and the CEO decide my fate.

I am friends with the guy in HR but the CEO lives overseas and really doesn't have a lot of personal interaction with the US team. In fact, I've only met him once.

Not sure what the future holds for me, but I feel a little better now that they know.

  • Good Luck! I am sure it will go better than you are expecting it too! : )

  • Good Luck!  It's difficult because you won't be covered or protected by federal law, but I know a lot of companies make it work even if they don't give you the full 12 weeks.

  • Thanks, girls.

I don't feel quite out of the woods just yet. It all depends on how the CEO reacts. My boss told my HR guy before I even had a chance to step away from my desk and he was really excited. We will see how the big boss reacts. I'm 2 for 3 so far though!
