Here's my dilemma? I need opinions?

Hi ladies! So a little bit of backstory: I had to find a new job when I got married last May around the new town I would be living in! At my old job i was a career counselorfor a university. At first I was commuting between two states until I found my job I've had since this February. Fast forward to yesterday, I was offered a promotion!!!!!!!!! During my interview process in February they asked me where I eventually wanted to go In my career, and I said to an advisor role... So it would be stupid to pass it up, I know. I'm just sad that i wont be working directly with the great group of girls that I have grown to love! We would be in the same department, Under the same boss, but not same team.

Pros of new job: little more money, similar to what I was doing before I changed jobs, more reward since I'm helping my students directly, better office space!

Cons of new job: MORE STRESS, little longer hours, always being in "go" mode, losing my current teammates

A big thing holding me back is that hubby and I are trying to start a family and I think there's just going to be so much stress with this new position... But, I also know that if I don't take this position now, I don't know if it would be offered to me again in the future when I thought I was ready...

Thanks for your opinions girls I hope everyone has a great day!! :)

  • I also work in Higher Ed and opportunities like this don't come around often, especially with more money! I say DO IT!!! I also have been considering looking for a new job but with TTC hopefully soon it does seem a little scary but most places are pretty understanding I think especially in our field.

GOOD LUCK and Congrats no matter what you decide!

  • I say go for it! This is your dream and what you have been working towards. I get not working with the same people will suck but you will still see them it's not like you are moving to a new job in a new city. Also with more money you can afford to start a family and yes it will be lots of stress but I think that comes with all jobs.

I agree this may not come up again so take the job while you can!
