To make a long story short it's the boss who is bad mouthing my work. I should have expected it, he bad mouths everyone to me so of course it goes that way. I've usually tried to use the opportunities to sway him to handle his issue with the employee directly. It ends well... I thought. Now I know he's just bad mouthing me to that employee.
He took me off parts of a project while never clearly stating why. Coworker tells me he says it's because I kept screwing up little things. Yet, these are the pieces that he still has me working on? And why are these never addressed in my employment reviews?
I should add he's the boss and owner of a small office. There's no other boss or HR to speak to.
Re: What about when its the boss who is bad-mouthing you.
Pick up the newspaper/go on line and find another job. You won't win this battle. These louts insist tot the end that it's white when it's been certified and proven it's black.
Haha, Can't believe the person is late, or can't follow protocol or not reliable to do anything?
Then that's a managerial problem: THEY fumbled and then dropped the ball ont hat one. THEY are to blame, not the employee.
Bosses that scream at people have screws loose. I worked for a woman who was like that -- we had to walk on eggs around her and you never knew when she'd lose it.
She'd melt down and look like a 3 year old having a tantrum. I was convinced she had either a personality disorder or was emotionally unstable or both.
She'd get into our emails -- all of them as per her orders, went into the office manager's email box! -- she would not let the men employees send faxes (never knew why) and everything you did and said was monitored. she'd say horrible things about us and about employees no longer there. "There are a few people here I wold like to fire but I am not like that" WHEW...my goodness, thank our lucky starz!
She was awful. And she owned the company. She'd spend time on the phone screaming at the person at the end -- we lost accounts because of the owner. She'd place the blame and claim it was becaue of another reason.
There should be laws against bully bosses, the same as there are laws for bullying in schools. Bullying an employee should be a federal offense. I am not kidding.
