Mint.com question

So I was checking my account and noticed that my spending for the month seemed really high. When I went through and added all of my expenditures for the month, it was actually much lower. I'm not sure what's going on except possibly that I have categories from last month that I overspent on last month and perhaps they have rolled over. Still, since it counted those expenditures for last month's spending, why is it adding it again to this month?

Has anyone had this happen before? I'm not sure how to sort it out. Thanks!

Re: Mint.com question

  • The only thing that I can think of us that when an item is "pending" sometimes the sale will go through and I have it on there twice. This is especially true when I pay at a restaurant and the pending account is different because the tip isn't on there yet. I've never had any items roll over, though I know there is a rollover option. Maybe double check your settings?

  • sometimes I'll have something show up in two different budget categories and it looks like I spent twice as much. For example, something from a clothing store might show up under my category "clothes" and "shopping". I monitor it closely. I might need to make my categories more general to prevent it from happening.
