Credit cards- gas & grocery
Hi all. I am looking for a good credit card that gives good points or cash back for grocery and gas. We use a lot of gas each month because we commute and spend a good amount of $ at the grocery store too. I don't want a credit card that is gas station specific. Also looking for no annual fee. Is there a card you could recommend or a website that lets you compare cards? Thanks!
Re: Credit cards- gas & grocery
We use the Chase Freedom card. You get points for every purchase you make, and those can be exchanged for account credit, gift cards, airline miles, etc. Every quarter there are extra points for using it at certain places (gas station, retails stores, movie theatre, etc.). H specifically uses his for gas (about $500/month), and I use my for everyday items and to pay a lot of bills with. We then turn around and use the points toward vacations.
There is no annual fee.

We use our discover card for gas and those types of things we don't want to use cash for. We are able to use the rewards for gift cards where you get a little extra (for instance you get a $50 gift card for redeeming $40 or $45 dollars of rewards).
Over the summer they usually run a gas promotion, and they have different promotions every month, where whatever you spend on that category, you get 5% cash back as opposed the usual % or 2.
