my husband and i are thinking about having our jobs pull out a certain amount of money each month into a credit account to use to pay taxes. has anyone done this? we figure we can collect some interest.

Property taxes? It's easier to just escrow. With the crappy interest rates on savings accounts, there really isn't a benefit to this method. Escrow and forget it.
If you are talking about income tax and you typically owe, than yes. That is a good idea.
