Hi Ladies! It's been awhile since I've been around these parts! I've been trying to stay "good" at work and limit my web usage
. I've lurked using my phone, but it doesn't let me respond
I've missed you all!
Anywho...So, as I said in my title, I need some good vibes. As you all know (maybe?) I am heading back to school full time in the fall. I have to leave my job (so not crying over it...I'm DONE with this commute and BS). For the last month and a half, I have been applying to what seems like everywhere! Last month I applied to 12 places, all in retail. Three immediatly sent emails back saying "upon review we will not be moving forward with you" (or something like that). Other than that, I have not had a single call back! I am dumbfounded, to say the least. I have been in retail for over 17 years, so I have A LOT of experience! Maybe they don't want someone with that much experience? Maybe they don't want to pay me?
Anyway. On Monday I went to Macy's and reapplied (I have worked for that company for several years), and they interviewed me (which I found weird, I guess since I had worked there before, so they know who I am). Haven't heard back. So, last night I decided to apply to a few more jobs...Nordstrom and LL Bean. A little while ago the store manager from LL Bean called and wanted to set up an interview! I'm excited. This is a great company and I have always wanted to work with them. Because I am going in on Monday and will meet with her and the customer service manager, I will only have to interview once (they do group interviews...so hate those).
As you can imagine, I need some of those Nestie vibes that this goes well! I'm tired of looking and I feel like no one else is going to call!
Thank you and I miss you all! I'll try to be around more ![]()
PS.....what should I wear? I want to look appropriate, but their dress code is khakis and green polo shirts. Black pants and nice top?
Re: I need some of those Nestie Vibes!
GOOD LUCK!!
I would think black pants/nice top or if it's still wicked hot a nice work dress would be appropriate too.

The word of retail can be frustrating (especially when trying to get a job), people get hired or not hired for all sorts of reasons, often none of them pertaining to their abilities or experience. I have gotten jobs that I don't feel like I should have gotten because I knew someone who worked there once, or not gotten jobs in places that I have very similar experience and have no idea why (maybe like you mentioned, they would have to pay me more then minimum wage?). So I hear where you are coming from.
Best of luck on the interview, and I think black pants and a nice top would be appropriate. When I used to work in the mall I used to dress up way more then when I worked in a craft store or grocery store, so even if they have a uniform showing up slightly overdressed is better then underdressed.
