Ugh.. closing date moved.

Originally last week I was told Monday by the latest.  On Monday I was told Wednesday by the lastest.  Today I was told tomorrow, after noon....

So we'll see!!!  If I close tomorrow I will get my keys Wednesday by the latest.

So... on the good side... no moving this weekend and I can procrastinate packing for one more week.  LOL

Re: Ugh.. closing date moved.

  • What's in the contract?  There can/should be legal ramifications for the closing date being moved.  Is it because of the financing or is it the seller's doing?

The lenders haven't done their stuff in time, so they are paying the late fee.  Just annoyed because they have changed the date so many times.

Oh, P.S.  Originally when I bid, we asked for the 1st of July.  The seller came back asking for the 23rd because it's a foreclosure and they didn't think they could get their stuff ready in time.  Well, they did - two weeks early - and that's when the date-changing-wars began.  LOL.  So, the official date is still the 23rd and the lender only has to pay one days late charges ($100).  It's just annoying to me because if you say for XYZ date.. then I expect that to happen.  *shrug*  Why tease me by saying you can get into your new place a week and a half early if it's not going to happen?

  • We bought a foreclosed home also. The seller set the closing date of May 9th. They come back on May 9th saying they need an extension. We ended up closing May 14th. Not too much later. But it was annoying when they pick a date and could not get their stuff together. We and our lender was ready. However, if we were not, we would have to pay a late fee.

  • We are in the same boat. Our closing day is supposed to be the 26th (which in our state means we sign on the 25th), but no meeting has been set and our lender called to say it might not happen till next week now...except we have to move out of our apartment by the end of the day on the 30th. Praying it all comes through. Its not like they haven't had everything they needed for weeks now. For dealing with so much money everyone we deal with just seems so unorganized; course I am a control freak..

I hope you have some luck with your lender and moving date! :)
