My cookie exchange went over fabulously last night. Bridey - you're tortilla wrap ups were a huge hit, several asked for the recipe but I think I'll keep it to myself for at least another occasion.
I did learn that I shouldn't stack them on top of each other in a container overnight, they ended up a little on the flatter side.
My mom got me a Magic Bullet (food processor, not sex toy) for an early christmas present - I am in love! That little thing has some serious horse power. My first time ever using it was to chop onions for the tortilla wraps up. Well, I ended up pressing a little longer than 10 seconds and ended up with pureed onions, worked out well but I sure learned to be a little less heavy handed. So if you don't have a food processor and want something that won't take up too much space - I highly recommend the Magic Bullet.
I had big plans for my cookies and got all the ingredients before I ended up sick as a dog last weekend so this weekend was a little frantic but I did end up making it all - buckeyes, butterscotch & dark chocolate fudge, peppermint bark and peanut butter blossoms. I don't know what the deal was but this is the first and last time I make the blossoms, the kisses all smooshed and made the cookies ugly - they still tasted good but still, don't you know it's about presentation! The Browneyed Baker's peppermint bark is very good and super easy so I highly recommend it. I think I saw in our cookie post that someone one else was going to make it this year.
And some how, DH conned me into hosting christmas brunch for his family - 14 or so. I have the best DH in the world as he proved yet again by busting butt Sunday and last night to help me with my crazy to do list so I'm not whining too loudly about hosting brunch but I definitely need to figure out a game plan so I don't spend the entire day in the kitchen.
Re: Tortilla Wrap Ups, Magic Bullet and Cookies!
Um, I feel lied to by this post--I had no idea a magic bullet was anything but a sex toy!
Really glad everything went well!
I got mine from Kohls - no shipping fee this way; plus I figured if it was a piece of crap it would be easier to return it this way.
