Company's tuition reimbursement plan?
What is your (or your DH's) tuition reimbursement plan where you work?
Re: Company's tuition reimbursement plan?
I don't have one through work but DH does. His covers $7500/yr for undergrad, or up to $15,000/yr for graduate/phd degrees depending on what you're studying (I don't think liberal arts degrees are covered, I think it has to be some type of engineering or science degree).
They also have a leadership development program which I think is prepaid 100% by the company. If he quits within one year of receiving tuition reimbursement he has to repay reimbursements from the last 12 months though.
I think starting next year they are lowering how much they're willing to pay though.
Training to be the next companion.
I work for the fed gov't and my agency will repay up to $60,000 in student loans for COMPLETED studies, in any field and at any level.
They cut a check for about $5,600 every year ($8,500 - taxes) that you apply for the program and send it directly to the lender. The "rules" of the program are that you have to owe at least $5k, the loans can't include consolidated loans with a spouse or a loan you took out for a child. You also have to make continuous monthly payments, but there is no required amount. I was able to lower my payment to $50/month because of the lump sum payments my lender was recieving every November.
The only stipulation is that you work for the Agency for 2 years AFTER your last payment. I started with $24k in student loans and I took my last payment last year. I owe a little less than 3k and that will be paid off with this years tax return.
---- edited to add: this is not offered to everyone in the Agency, only people with certain job codes. It's a retention tool for hard to fill posistions ----
