  • Emmy, that's no fun!  Blah!

I am going to a 90 minute zumba/toning class tonight.  I haven't exercised in so long I may die.

I am collecting RSVP's for a dinner for our students on Evite.  Half of them forget to include their meal choice.  Others are bringing more than their one guest - so I have to then follow up by email with these people.  This dinner is going to drive me to drink.

  • I have had a raging case of PMS for like 3 weeks now.  It's exhausting being so b!tchy all of the time.

During lunch I am taking a pilates class, but I really just want to take a nap.

  • I was supposed to have this week off, but I am at work. I have about one million things to do and being here is not one of them especially now that my wonderful husband has decided we are moving this weekend. Awesome! I am hoping to take off Thursday and Friday to finish packing. I am also recruiting my mother! Things will go much smoother without my husband being a pain in my arse. We took stuff over yesterday, Our first trip consisted of him taking all of his hunting/fishing stuff and his reloading supplies. Seriously?!?

I despise my insurance agent, he is an asshat. I didn't go back to the house with Nathan yesterday because he was coming between 3:15 & 3:30 to take pictures. He showed up at 2:30, 5 minutes after Nathan left, took a picture of the front and back and the electrical panel then wanted a check for twice as much as the woman in his office said. I had no choice considering but I will be switching, soon. This is the first time he has irritated me. When Nathan got his new car, they added a second car policy so I started getting two sets of bills and it took me six MONTHS and a ton of phone calls to get it straightened out. Plus I think he is ripping us off.

I hate our salesmen. Our parts manager is at a funeral, our boss is at a jobsite in MD and I of course was running late. When they get here, they refuse to unlock the doors or turn on the lights or phone. They let themselves in, turn off the alarm and relock the doors. Because heaven forbid they actually do a little person's job like talk to one of their customers. But if you need cardstock to print directions for you daughters wedding, then by george ask Kris.

    I need to drink.

I honestly don't think I've had a decent night of sleep since Elsey was born 9 months ago.  I don't understand how she gets by on so little sleep (she doesn't nap well either).  I have formed a serious coffee habit.  Eric and I are doing an overnight get-away next week and I am most looking forward to not having any children waking me up in the middle of the night.

Another random thought, Eric and I are doing a wine and cheese tour at Christian Klay winery on Thursday afernoon and I am really looking forward to it.  We are getting in lots of couple time in the next week!

  • At my mother's family reunion this weekend my DH was having too much fun with the other dads in the water battle against all the kids and hurt his foot. It bugged him for two days but he kept walking on it thinking he could just walk it off. Today on his way to work he couldn't bear driving and ended up going straight to the ER. He freaking broke his foot!  Wouldn't listen to me when I told him not to walk on it and go see a doctor. Well he is working from home today and I can't believe there is a half hour wait at the pharmacy on a Tuesday morning to get his pain mess filled. Because he has tears in his eyes when he walks.  We aren't even in Pittsburgh, we're in my hometown which is extremely small!

I went to Target today and bought double packs of baby copper tone sunblock for my kids on 90% off clearance for 1.35 each.  Totally made my day.  Funny how an unexpected  bargain can bring me bliss..

  • Lanna starts school in 28 days and we still haven't worked out childcare plans. Just a leeetle stressed out about that.
  • Eleni went from last year depending on floaties in the pool and a strong fear of the deep end to jumping from the dive board floatie free and swimming the length of the pool. I love watching her gain confidence and new skills.

Mandy I am in total denial about Kindergarten starting. It helps that the school has given us nothing in the way of information about which class she will be in. and I was sad to find out from a neighbor that all I have to buy her is a pencil box. I wanted to back to school shop. #schoolsupplynerd

Wow, I thought our school was uncommunicative! Apparently the teacher we got sends home an extensive list of supplies (which she doesn't mark for your kid, which makes some parents mad), so I will not be dodging that bullet!

just a pencil box?? that would be so disappointing!  I haven't received our list yet, but I was hopeful to have a whole shopping outing with Jake for supplies!

  • These back to school commercials make me sick to my stomach and dd isn't going to kindergarten until NEXT year.  Ugh.  I end up yelling at dh, "They're just babies!!!"

Also, my 2 1/2 year old can't handle library story time.  It excites her so much, she has to blurt out every. single. thought that comes to her mind while the librarian is reading.  Duct tap is an appropriate option right?

  • The only thing we've had to buy as far as school supplies is a backpack.  They even supply Noah with a pencil box and a folder.  It makes me sad.

ETA: I don't know how every school district is, but we do not get our information about which room he is in/bus he takes/etc, until very close to the start of school.  The year he started kindy we had to call to get it (they do a staggered start where a parent accompanies them on the first day) because that's my busy week at work, so we had to make plans.  And I think we called when it was a week prior to the start of school.  So in my experience, getting that kind of info in July would be super early.

  • Maybe it's because we have half-day K, but we got ours in the beginning of July and that seemed late to me (we start on 8/20). If it was just a matter of knowing who the teacher was that wouldn't bother me, but when you don't even know if your child will have class in the morning or afternoon, it's a bit nerve wracking!

I have not received any confirmation on the morning/afternoon decision. I asked for morning... just hoping they listened.

I was also sad to learn that I wouldn't get to back to school shop for Jackson when he started PPS last year. I was all excited about buying supplies.

I still wanted to take advantage of the good Staples/Wal Mart sales, and ended up back to school shopping for my sister's class. I got her tons of crayons and markers for her students at really good prices.

We didn't get our stuff related to classrooms until the week before school. A letter came with a pre assigned conference time as well, and I didn't get an option to reschedule to a more convenient time. Luckily, my time was right around my lunch hour, and I worked close to the school, so I was actually able to fit it in and only be a few minutes late getting back from lunch. :)

  • Wow, it is crazy to me how unaccommodating the schools are to working parents! I'm surprised they don't get complaints.

we got our am/pm assignment a few weeks ago thankfully. We got what we wanted (AM) yay! But haven't gotten any other info but like Amber said I don't think we will for awhile. I really want to know bus pickup time. The bus time will really affect our morning schedule and if I have to start work a different time!! Our after school program just asked me when dd was going to start (they have summer program too so she could start prior to school). We plan to start just on the first day of school but I wasn't even 100% sure when that is!! I had to look at last years calendar on their website and asked the after school place if they knew.

We did just buy dd's backpack and lunch box this weekend. She wanted something specific so I wanted to make sure we got it. I can't believe I started buying school stuff!! As far as supplies I have no idea. I wish they'd send that out early I don't want to have it sprung on me. I think in my area you have to get a decent amount of stuff...definitely not just a pencil box.

it is ridiculous. I'm already beyond annoyed with the whole process. It is so inefficient!!! I desperately want to just go in there and show them how to make things easier. Like put your stupid registration forms online!! I didn't get mine in the mail and had to complain. One of dd's daycare friends didn't get theirs in the mail twice. And when we did get our paperwork the instructions were confusing and we were missing forms.

  • I've been eagerly checking our mailbox every day because last week, our district posted on facebook that bus schedules would be sent out "shortly"; not sure what their definition of shortly is, but I will continue to stalk every day after work.

I know that Nathan's district hasn't even started theirs yet, probably next week. It isn't really "hard" they have a program but they don't like to send them out too early because people complain. They think that they should get door to door service instead of their kids having to walk to the corner and wait at the bus stop.

I know the district my dad works for is only starting to plan their routes next week as well. They don't send out assignments until mid August.

The drivers bid on routes the third Friday in August, and the planning of the routes is only completed shortly before that.

they mentioned on FB that they were sending them out earlier than they usually do because they have changed all of the start times for elementary, middle, and high schools.  I'm guessing they've been receiving complaints about that already, so maybe they think that sending out the bus schedules will ease some anxiety :)

They do subcontract their transportation with I believe Laidlaw, so they are probably at their mercy as to when they get them out.
