So we both have agreed to file a no fault divorce. I have heard that you can just use a mediator and no lawyers to keep costs to a minimum. Does anyone have any experience with this or know who I can call (aside from an attorney)? I have been looking online and either I'm googling wrong or I'm not entering the right key words because I'm just being directed to attorneys.
Thanks!
Re: Need some divorce advice
Even though it is no-fault, it doesn't mean "no lawyer" divorce.
I suggest you contact the Women's Resource Center in Wayne. They have an incredible network and affordable one-on-one visits. You may want to schedule one of their 30 minute legal consultations with a family law attorney (they are only $10). At minimum, they can give you some guidance as to the representation you want in your proceedings.

this This and THIS !!!!!!!!!!!!
i agree with above... I've seen no lawyer divorces (or attempts) in some of my cases and they are disasters. you will both need lawyers. I've heard of... never witnessed one myself.. cases where people agree to everything and go to the lawyer together and have one lawyer draw everything up... not really representing either but I'm not sure how that works.
i would definitely take the advice above and call and get recommendations on how to proceed
good luck!
to piggyback... even amicable splits turn nasty when push comes to shove. A lawyer can be more objective and keep the two of you from fighting directly. if you need a recommendation a few of my friends from law school are in family law in this area.
