Thursday Randoms

It makes me sad if we go a day without a post.   I don't really have anything important enough to warrant it's own post though.  So randoms it shall be!

Re: Thursday Randoms

  • I keep coming back to check for a new post too, but can't come up with anything interesting to say myself. it makes me sad too.

    Me three!!

although I was all in a panic about work stuff this morning and told myself I must swear off personal email, Nest and FB. That lasted maybe an hour. ha.

  • My random is that I am always amazed at the kinds of things people write on FB.  Not on their own status, but on pages of things that anyone in the world can like/follow and read.   Things like "Oh, I'd love to come to the zoo's summer safari party, but I'm on vacation then!"  (Alrighty then, Mary Smith Wasniski, I'm looking you up to rob your house that night!)

And on contest type posts (where the winner can get a car), things like "My daughters' car broke down and we'd love to win this so she can get to school!"   I just don't understand sharing that much of my life with the entire world.  I also don't understand the people who write mean things.  For example, I follow Adam Levine.  (Shocker, right??)  I can't tell you how many men type things like "your music sucks", and "douchebag".   So if you think he's a douche, why in the world do you follow him on FB?

Agree.... often I think, "I needed to know that why?"

We had an all staff meeting today that I won this raffle and got a box of Sarris pecanettes.... I already opened the box and ate 2. At 130 cal and 9 grams of fat. Yeah not back on that bandwagon from vacation last week. :P

Totally agree. I have been thinking the same thing when people post on pictures from People or Us Weekly. Um, you are following a tabloid and you are mad because they are talking about the Kardashians?!?

I also noticed a lot on post about Prince William and Kate's baby. Really, then don't read.

Also the whole brewhaha about Kate not hiding her figure when they introduced the baby. Seriously, the women gave birth less than 24 hours before of course she isn't back to her slim self.

I totally agree. People over share waaaay too often. On a similar note...Why do people have to share, "We're going to start trying to have a baby next month."   We all know how babies are made. I don't need to know about it.

  • Ditto the FB comments.  It's like people need a stage for every d@mn thing in their life now.  It always surprises me the mean stuff that people post too.  I've gotten caught up in random posts before, when I absolutely should know better, but I just can't hold myself back from commenting when people are being blatant a-holes.

Today is my Friday, so I am excited about that!  We are taking the boys to Idlewild tomorrow for superhero week.  (Don't rob my house, Amber!)

  • Hi, my name is Emmy and I'm addicted to binge-watching Scandal every chance I get.

That's all.  Back to your regularly scheduled nesting.

I take my Adam Levine collection with me everywhere, so there will be nothing valuable left in my house!

Have fun! The boys are going to love it.

Today is also my Friday, but I will be cleaning, packing and moving crap all weekend.

I am jealous that my parents get to see my nephew next week, although that means seeing my BIL and of that I am not jealous.

Confession, I went on my first ride on the quad aka the new lawnmower yesterday and don't tell my husband but I actually liked it. I may even learn to drive it myself, although then he may think I should cut the grass...

  • Meghan will appreciate this one.

So this year is our 20th class reunion. No one planned anything and a couple people stepped up and offered to plan for November(cocktails, appetizers, photobooth at local bar).

When it was thrown out there, so many people were so freakin' whiny that they wanted something in the summer and for families like the class of '92 did because they had plans for Thanksgiving already but NO ONE wants to take the reigns to plan. And they also wanted to know why it couldn't happen this summer, um because it was freaking July asshats!  And hear is a new flash, it is never going to be a good time for all 500+ people in our class.

  • Kris, my hs reunion was last year.   And the same kinds of things were said on the FB group/page.  Ours was for Thanksgiving weekend - so of course there were "well, I guess you hate hunters because I'll be at hunting camp that day!"  and "we spend Thanksgiving weekend with family...can't we do October 3?  That day works for me!"

I agree with you - either step up and help, or shut up about it.  They sent out a poll, Thanksgiving weekend won in the poll.  The end.  Not everyone can make it.

That being said...I went very reluctantly.  And I had a blast!  I'm so happy that we went - so if there is something, you should do it!

  • My class also has a history of being an epic fail when it comes to reunions.  we were supposed to have a 5 year that started to be planned, then just never happened.  Just...nothing.  Nothing ever became of it.  Supposed to have a 10 year....started to be planned, received an email saying "nevermind, former student council members don't have enough time to plan, no reunion"

One of my close friends from HS decides he's just going to go ahead, form a facebook group, and pick a bar over thanksgiving break to get together with people. He was able to reserve the back room at the bar, sent out the info with plenty of warning...  very casual, no money up front required...come if you can make it, if not...hopefully they can pull it together for a 15 or 20 year.  I was appalled at some of the rude comments by people on that FB group, same whining you guys are talking about.  Waaaah, I always travel!  Waaaah, that bar is lame.  Waaaah, we have to pay for our own drinks??

unbelievable.  the guy was just trying to do something nice and get people together!

  • OMG, do not even get me started!  My friend Melissa and I were the ones who stepped up and offered to plan something (after one too many drinks one night, that I am now totally regretting).  I knew going into it that people would be whiney, not happy with anything, and not willing to help, but it is still annoying the sh!t out of me.

All of these people are like well, the class of '92 did this, my mom did this for her reunions, blah blah blah.  That's awesome you have so many great ideas, but if you are not willing to move them forward and plan something, then STFU.

And my favorite is "I'd love to help, but I live out of town."  Ummm...do you not have a phone?  Email? Internet?  Did you not just type that very comment on FB, a global social networking site, communicating with hundreds of people from your graduating class who live all over the place?  Then I don't care if you are living in a cave in Baghdad, you have the ability to plan something.

These were my favorite! I would totally take charge of next summer since I love to plan stuff and there are no more weddings in the future but I don't want to deal with these idiots. My favorite was a person with the maiden initials of JL!

LOL, she was killing me with all of her suggestions!  I also love the people who are like, well I can't make Thanksgiving, but I can do next summer.  Oh, so you are available every single weekend in the summer or are you going to expect us to plan around your summer availability too? I know Thanksgiving isn't ideal for everyone, but do people not realize that we're not going to be able to accommodate everyone's schedule in the summer either?!?!
