nestie dog owners

I came home today and my dog has this weird spot on his chest. I was wondering if any of you ladies know what it might be?

I'm going to call Boomer's vet tomorrow, but have a funeral to go to, so unless they can see him first thing, it will have to wait until Monday. So I would feel MUCH better having an idea of what it might be!

He keeps licking it so in the meantime I put "the cone of shame" on him. (Talk about one unhappy puppy)

It won't let me PIP for some reason, so here's a link: http://tinyurl.com/n4q3l3w

I saw the picture on FB and it's probably a hot spot or allergies (or both). Without seeing it in person, it looks more like an allergy spot because hot spots are usually more raw.

  • Thanks Sarah!

I talked to the woman who takes him on his hikes (he went yesterday) and she thought it might have been from some barbed wire the dogs ran into? It doesn't really look like a cut (to me but I'm far from an expert), but she suggested some neosporin.  So we're going to try that over the weekend and if it gets worse we'll take him to the vet Monday.

  • If it looks like its itching him or he is itching it a lot you can give him (depending on how much he weighs) a Benadryl pill.... That should help until he sees the vet?

  • I do not own a dog but I work at Petco and we kinda have to know stuff like that because we have customers come in and ask all the time. It looks like to me it could be a hot spot or maybe some kind of allergy.
