Is there an "alternative treatment/remedy" that you believe in? Or have you used one and thought it was total crap?
(Examples: Chiropractor, acupuncture, hypnosis, ear candle, neti pot)
Re: QOTD 7/26
I love love love love love the chiropractor. I went the first time when I was probably about 7. I haven't been in 2 years, but I've been thinking about making an appointment. I've had back problems off and on my whole life. I've never gone consistently, but I love it. It just feels so good when my spine cracks! haha.
ETA: I've also tried the SinuCleanse which is kind of like a NetiPot. It's alright. I don't like to use it, and so I only have two or three times. My MIL gave it to me when I was having some sinus issues because she'd never used it. Meh.
I'm also a huge fan of the chiropractor. I don't really believe the whole you-need-to-come-in-2-times-a-week garbage though. I went in this week because I hurt my low back last weekend.
There is a stop sign on the corner I live on. The previous owners planted these ugly bushes around the stop sign and I hate them. Anyway, Saturday, I decided I couldn't look at them anymore. They were really in the ground. I was holding the stop sign and jumping on the shovel and was unable to do it. DH finally took over and broke the shovel trying to get them out. We finally won, but I was unable to bend down for a few days because of it. One visit to the chiropractor and I feel like a million bucks!
I've used a NetiPot too. They do work, but I feel like it only works for like ten minutes and then you are all plugged up again. If I use it twice in a week I get nose bleeds.
I've been to the chiropractor a few times, can't say I'm a convert yet, but I would be willing to give it another try.
I would also try accupuncture, I have chronic tension headaches and I think it might help.
I've never tried any of the others.
Been going to the chiropractor since January. Total convert. My neck and back has never felt better. Between 3 car accidents and huge boobs... I needed something. I still have flair ups. Like ask week between my shoulder blades I was getting shoot pain when I moved a certain way. Went to my weekly appt and AH so much better!
I also love my neti pot. I used to have 4-6 sinus infections a year. I haven't gotten one since I started. I use it every morning in the winter, and at night if I feel something coming on. When the seasons change I use it at night. Summers I use it when I feel something coming on... like this week.
My parents use to believe in creame de mente for colds, like the liquor. So I was 6 years old taking shots of alcohol when I was sick haha.
I use the squirt bottle version of the netipot and love it! Even got the husband on board with one. We use it daily.
I also absolutely swear by acupuncture. Nothing had been able to touch my pain from my sacrosanct iliac joint Few sessions later I was practically pain free. For those who are concerned about needles I promise you don't feel them!!
