Shopping for mortgage rates?
We're looking at purchasing a house and am looking into mortgage rates. What is the best way to do this? Go online (what sites)? Or go through a broker?
For online ones, how can you tell that they are actually reputable and will be able to finish the loan - our realtor warned us about the online ones, but I don't know to tell if a company is good or bad.
Re: Shopping for mortgage rates?
IMHO, you can chose any one of the large or local banks in your area and be pretty A-Okay.
Personally, I would avoid online lenders just due to the potential for customer service nightmares. The rates may be slightly lower, but I'm just not sure that it is worth it to end up doing business with a low-brow lender who cannot get paper work done on time and is poor at helping you out.
