1st appt - what can I expect?
So, I just moved my first appt up from 8/12 until this Friday, although I may have to move it again. But my question is - other than a ton of paperwork and bloodwork, can I expect to see or hear anything at this appointment? If I go Friday, I will be 5w4d. TIA!

RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.

I'm going to be out of town or unavailable from 8/3 until 8/10, and our vacation week just got moved to 8/12-8/16. If I could get a morning appointment on the 12th I'd move it back, but I don't know. I also feel weird now, like I'm the crazy pregnant chick who keeps moving her appointments.

my ob also wouldn't see me until around 9 weeks. It was a good appt though. I had a pelvic. They took blood and urine and I had the internal ultrasound! Dh came.

To better answer your question. At my first appointment I got a pap, had some blood drawn, peed in a cup, and discussed different things with the doctor about pregnancy in general. Then she scheduled my first US.

At 8 weeks I had an appointment for just an internal ultrasound where we saw the baby and a heartbeat.
At 9 weeks I met with the head nurse where she did DH and I's medical histories and family medical history. I then peed in a cup and met with my doctor who did a pap and asked a few questions.
My doctor's office wouldn't see my until 8 weeks as well. I did have some early spotting so they had me come in for an ultrasound at 5w5d just for peace of mind. At that point, we just saw the sac and that's about it. The US tech could sometimes see a flicker that she thought might be the heartbeat but it was still to early to confirm that.
At 8 weeks you see a lot more. We were able to see the baby or the bean at that point. : ) and also hear the hearbeat.
