First, I miscarried at the beginning of the month. H and I were sad but there was nothing that we could have done. We're both healing and ready to take the next step when the time is right.
I have severe eczema, always have. It's mostly on my face around my mouth and eye lids. Since the spring it's gotten worse. Nothing that I have been given does anything. After showering it gets very dry and raw and I am very uncomfortable. My mom suggested that I go to a dermatologist in NYC since they see more patients than a doctor where I live. I made an appointment last week with a dermatologist through Cornell Weil Medical Center. My appointment was today, I think this is the best dermatologist I have ever been to (and I have been to many). The good news is my problem is not serious and easily treatable.
The bad news is he thinks I'm allergic to nail polish! NAIL POLISH!!!! I love having my nails and toes painted and I get a manicure every week. I was very sad to hear that I can't wait any nail polish for the next month, but if it will improve my health, I have to do it. I came home and took off my nail and toe polish and I did feel a little better almost immediately.
Now for the next month I have to record everything I do, eat, anything I put on, soaps and detergents I use and hopefully the nail polish change will be the correct fix. I have awful allergies and get shots every week. I normally see the nurse, but when I go this week I am going to see the doctor and talk to him about his opinion about this diagnosis.
Re: Some updates on me
I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriage
*hugs* I can't imagine. Know you have love and support coming from my direction!
Good luck with all of the dermatologist stuff! I think it's crazy that you might be allergic to nail polish!! I've never heard of that and it would never have occurred to me. Good luck with your recording, I hope it helps shed some light on everything!!
I am so so sorry about your miscarriage. You and your H are in my thoughts and prayers.
I'm glad you liked the new derm. Crazy about the possible nail polish allergy, but hopefully that is it and you can get some relief. Good luck with the journaling, I only do my food journaling and that is a lot, I can't imagine adding soap, etc. to that! Thinking of you during this difficult time.
Big hugs to you and H. My thoughts and prayers are going out to you guys.
I hope the new derm helps, and NAIL POLISH?! HOW CRAZY?!
So sorry to hear about your miscarriage, sending HUGS!
Good luck with the derm, i hope you can figure it all out.
So sorry about you miscarriage! I can't imagine how hard that must of been.
On the positive side of your post it's good you are getting answers from your new dermatologist. And allergies are no fun!
I'm so sorry you had to go through a miscarriage. It's one of the worst feelings in the world.
I hope everything goes good with the new dermatologist!
So sorry to hear about the miscarriage.
Hopefully, the new dermatologist will be able to get to the bottom of your eczema and it will clear up soon.
So sorry about your miscarriage. Hugs to you and H.
Glad you're liking the new dermatologist. Hopefully he gets it all cleared up for you soon
Thanks everyone for your well wishes about the miscarriage. We are doing well, but have our moments. We both want children and now even more so. We are healing and plan to try again and soon as we can. The doctor said wait 2 cycles. I have never wanted TOM to arrive more in my entire life
Regarding my nails, it does stink to not wear nail polish, but if it will make me better I'll live. I've been looking into alternatives on the internet but the doctor did tell me nothing on my nails until I come back next month. I looked up pictures of the reaction last night and it definitely looks exactly what my face looks like. I think he hit the nail on the head.
Jen, I never heard of it until a few years ago. I had a coworker who was allergic, but she would just get a reaction on her hands. My hands are fine but my face is terrible. Today it is feeling much better.
