OMG...this is too good NOT to share!

I am not friends with this person, or know this person, but it showed up in my news feed on facebook because one of my friend commented on it. The title of the event is **** and *** Wedding and Reception. I completely had to facebook stalk to see if this was really a true invite to a wedding! Low and behold....IT IS! The event is completely public, so anyone can see the entire event and RSVP if they have the link to it!

Here's the Body of the Invite:

We were too broke to send out invitations like we had planned previously, but do us a favor and spread the word!

Join us for a nontraditional, colorful and lively celebration of our marriage and unified love. Feel free to partake in drinks, food, karaoke, and speeches with us all day and evening. We will speak our vows publicly and have our papers signed at noon, and the reception will follow. Be prepared for an excellent time! As always, contributions to food, drinks and wedding presents are always appreciated. It will be a casual, family and friend oriented event. If you're worried about gift ideas, we are just as clueless as you are. Amazon gift cards help with virtually any need.

It will take place Brownsburg, Indiana: Arbuckle Park off of 267. I look forward to seeing you all there~ (:

THEN...I scrolled down and was reading the posts, and saw THIS post from the bride:

I have fixed the poll situation for the page! I created this so that we can effectively organize the evening, depending on what events will take place, how many, and for how long. Everyone who plans on going, pleeeaaase vote, so that we have a better idea of what to bring. Thank you so much! (:

Seriously??

I promise...this is for realz...I can't make this stuff up!

  • Oh wow...that is classy. Vote so we can plan activities....ummm ok. It sounds like a family reunion not a wedding.
  • No kidding! I was shocked!

  • Yuck.

I got a FB invite today for a housewarming party and they have a housewarming registry. It included the message "We are registered at [store], but don't feel obligated to bring a gift" Confused

  • I really hate FB invites. I almost always decline them!  Unless it's for someone that is super close.

  • Oh Facebook, how I love and despise you. People are so classy. <.< >.> I only use FB invites for more casual get togethers, like a game night one Saturday. Or to help coordinate  who brings what to family events. But it's all kept private.

Oh wow.. some people just don't get it.  I totally understand being on a budget and all that, but that may be taking it too far.

  • I'm not a fan of the whole e-vite thing in general, but I think there are classier e-vites out there than facebook if you're really on a budget. Heck I'd prefer a regular email to a facebook invite!

  • My cousin is getting married in a couple of weeks and she used Facebook for hte invite. My sister and I were both shaking our heads and we thought perhaps we'd be getting the paper invite soon, but nothing has come and she hasn't asked for our addresses!

But, in all honesty I did use Facebook in lieu of any "save the dates". I sent it only to immediate family and friends and kept it private of course.

  • Oh wow... thats crazy.

And here I am side-eyeing this invite we just got in the mail that included a Bed Bath and Beyond registry card. Guess I should be glad we got a paper invite and don't have to vote on the activities!
