Hello there, its been a long time since i've visited this board, just been so busy with everyday life. I've been reading posts and catching up on here today and wanted to congratulate everyone who is expecting or has had a baby, so exciting! I miss posting and reading updates from everyone so I'm going to try and get on here more often ![]()
The advice i'm in search of is if anyone is familiar with or suffers from the condition, Endometriosis? Last month I went in for my annual exam and was diagnosed with it. I had a Laproscopy Surgery about two weeks ago and my Post-Op appt on Monday to discuss further treatment. I understand that this condition can lead to infertility if not treated, and we want to try and conceive in a year or two, so I'm just trying to find out how others have went about with treatment.
Glad to be back on here, hope everyone is well!
Re: Hi Ladies, its been awhile....in need of some advise...
Welcome back and thanks
Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I have endometriosis and I know what it is like to suffer. I was diagnosed at 16 with stage three endometriosis with severe adhesions and was told that bcs of the scar tissue I may never have children. I would bleed extremely heavily and have periods that lasted months at a time. I was anemic and was on multiple NSAID medications to help control the pain. I had a laparoscopy done in 2005 and it worked for a short while but it came back with vengeance sadly. I had a repeat laparoscopy in 2007 by a different doctor who really knew what he was doing and it made a world of difference!!
The key to keeping yourself in remission is to prevent yourself from getting your period. If u do not have a period there will be no endometrial bleeding and therefore no build up of new endometriosis. I was on depo provera after that for a few years (I don't recommend long term use of it. I still have lasting side effects including no libido what so ever. I started to feel very much unlike myself and stopped taking it on September 2009.
After I stopped the depo my period returned and was regular for the first time ever! It came every 28 days for a year until September 2010...it was late...I figured the endo was returning and messing things up again but my period still never came. I soon found out that I was pregnant!! I was shocked and elated! It wasn't planned but I wanted nothing more in the world then to be a mom!
I gave birth to my son may 9th 2011 and breastfed for a year. This kept my period away for 14 months post partum. I got my period back and was on nuvaring but apparently miracles do happen because after my second period....the third was late...my birth contril failed and I was pregnant once again! I gave birth to my daughter may 11th of this year and I'm breastfeeding. So far no period and no pain. I am scared of what lies in the future for me and even my daughter as the disease is hereditary but I plan to take preventative measures with birth control and take things one step at a time
Endo is a chronic disease and cannot be cured but it can be put into remission. I really hope that this laparoscopy does the trick for you and that you have an easy time TTC!!
Sorry for the novel and I hope it gives you faith that you can conceive. What stage were u diagnosed with?
If you have any further questions feel free to pm me. I have struggled with the disease for 14 years already (since getting my period at 10) and have a lot of knowledge about it.
Best of luck!
