Employees of Kokomo's Sports Bar on Linglestown Road in Lower Paxton Township said they were told Friday that the bar would close at the end of business on Sunday.

Kokomo's manager Sarah Kopcho said about 20 employees are affected by the closing.

"A couple of the girls are upset because they haven't bought Christmas gifts for their kids," Kopcho said.

An attorney for BMB Point Properties, the company which owns the building, says it terminated the lease because Kokomo's owners have been delinquent on their payments since May 2007.

The owners were told to vacate the premises by Monday, the attorney said.

Re: Kokomos on Linglestown Rd is closed!

  • sorry about the word jumble at the top!!  Alot of people purchased half price hbg offers for this one too!!
  • Wow...unfortunately I am not surprised.  The one on 22 got bought out a while ago and now has a stupid name.  Those poor employees.
  • that stinks! that was the last one left. the one downtown was supposed to be moving but i bet they are never going to be opening back up!  arooga's or whatever it is is basically the same thing. not too bad of a joint.

DH and I actually really prefer Arooga's over Kokomos on 22 now that its been changed over.  We like their boneless wings.

  • Something similar just happened around our area (it was in Altoona).  Ruby Tuesday and Krispy Kreme both just shut their doors on Sunday and did not re-open on Monday.  Too bad for the employees - especially at this time of year!
  • Not sure why this was a surprise, as word of their closing came out last month, before Thanksgiving.  If things go through, Arooga's will be taking it over.

Good riddance to poor ownership/management.  The old owner can't seem to get on the right side of the law in his personal or professional life, so I'm glad to see it change hands to a better group of people.

  • Oh, and plans/work on the downtown location have stopped.
  • I feel bad for the workers.

I had to laugh though this is the place that a coworker took me to to have my first shot of taquela when I turned 21. That was gross!

  • THe one downtown got in a lot of trouble for serving alcohol to minors.  My SIL used to work there.  She said the owner was a jerk!

not sure what happened with this post.... sorry ladies!

  • why am I not surprised? I work downtown right next to where the one used to be on 2nd and Pine- good riddance. that place attracted more roaches than I cared to see in my office!

Kokomos briefly owned the old Klinger's in Etters too. It was Kokomos for maybe a month- we went there one day and it had a different name (the fieldhouse). I think all of the Kokomo's are closed now aren't they?

We tried to go to Aroogas in camp hill this past weekend but it was so crazy busy it was 45 minutes for a table. maybe another week Big Smile

  • Yeh we went to Kokomos in Etters after work for my bachlorette party in May, when I came back from my honeymoon it was closed!! haha  It is now the Fieldhouse, which is pretty good...
