Hey! My appt went fairly well, except that I waited for an hour for him to come into the room! Anyway, he said that I have at least another 6 weeks of PT, and I am also supposed to wear my brace that full time too. He doesn't think my knee is strong enough to go without the brace and thinks that it will dislocate again if I don't wear it and put me back and square one. So that is good that I didn't tear my meniscus and that he just thinks it is normal pain with the injury I have. I also asked him for sure what I tore because I had no idea what it was and he said it was the medial pattelar retinaculum.

  • that's definitely good news that you didn't tear the meniscus...you're probably getting so sick of PT by now though!!  I'm assuming the brace they gave you is also to help keep your knee cap in place?  My patellas are really mobile and I know every once in a while one pops out and back in and its definitely not a fun feeling.  at least no surgery!!
  • Yea, I am getting sick of PT. It is usually on my days off so I don't truly feel like I have a day off. Once my semester starts it will be so difficult to do PT and do my classes. But at least I found a place that is great. The therapists are great to work with. My brace is a Lateral J brace that is supposed to keep my kneecap in place. It seems to work because it hasn't popped out since and my Dr thinks that if I'm not wearing my brace then it will pop out again. Fun! But no surgery!
