(#) Thursday check-in

Howdy ladies, how is everyone doing today?

I need to throw out the leftover goodies from our tree-trimming party.  I get home after a long day of work + a three-hour rehearsal, and even if I've eaten, I'm like, "mmmmmmmmm cookies!"  They'll either be thrown out or eaten soon :)

Messiah performances start tonight, and since my office is only about ten minutes from the Kennedy Center, I've brought both lunch and dinner.  I'm a little low on veggies and fruits, but it's better than eating out.

B: oatmeal/flax/raisins, skim milk

S: banana

L: taco soup (lean ground beef, black beans, tomatoes, corn, onion, etc)

S: celery, bell pepper slices

D: chicken tamale pie

For exercise, I'll be walking two miles roundtrip to Physical Therapy, plus doing a ton of core work at PT.  I'm so glad to actually be able to do some, given I've been sick for almost two weeks. :-P

Et vous?

Re: (#) Thursday check-in

  • Back is still very painful.  The H made me get up and take a long shower this morning instead of exercise, so I'm going to do it tonight. I can still exercise, I just can't bend very well.  I know it's just a pulled muscle, so all it needs is a little time.  I did discover last night that 1 1/2 glasses of wine helps relax it a lot. Sadly, it's tight again today, and I can't drink at work. Le sigh.

B: two blueberry muffins and big glass of milk (we were out of straws, so no smoothie)

L: chicken with curry sauce and pita chips; green pepper slices

S: clementines and string cheese (I MUST eat my snack today)

D: beef stew and a roll; maybe 1 glass red wine for medicinal purposes

    Ex: step DVD

  • Oatmeal and Fruit as usual.

  • I'm glad to hear you're all doing well, but all I can say is "ugh". UGH. I'm feeling frustrated because I know I'm doing something wrong but not quite sure what. I got in great shape a year ago by counting calories and working out, but it's just not cutting it this time. I guess I have been cheating a bit ( so that's what I'm doing wrong). I was just hoping to be less strict this time and get the same results. Which I realize makes no sense.

I am going to start a running program and I think that will help.... maybe I've been doing the same types of exercise for too long and need to jump start myself with something different.

  • I'm somewhat ashamed to admit that I've fallen off the wagon.  Between holiday parties and low motivation to do much of anything, I'm just being really bad with decision making.  I know I'll do better into the new year, once leftovers are all finished.

I guess the thing that makes this so hard for me is that I don't really have any tangible goal in mind.  My goal is to "be healthier," but I have healthy stats already, just a few unhealthy habits.

  • with my cookie exchange on Monday night - this week has sucked! Work has calmed down so now I can get to my walk tonight - yay!

  • Except for the chocolate rice crispy treat I had for breakfast, I have good things to have for snacks and dinner for the next couple of days. Tonight will be swiss chard and white beans with chicken sausage.

I think I have to plan to go out for a walk each day. It will be good for my mental health, too. Yesterday's walk was to the dentist, what fun. Next week ab exercises commence!
