RE: 18 kids...

Another reason I struggle with this is because, well...the world is already so overpopulated.  I mean, I know that it is their right to have as many kids as they want/can, but come on - think about the potential future impact on the earth that will be made just by that family, their kids, their kids' kids, and so on.

I struggle with the idea of having just one kid for this reason - although I will most likely have one.  And please (please please!) don't think that I'm putting down or looking down on any moms on this board or moms in general - like I said, I'll likely have a kid myself someday.  I just think that this family is way overdoing it.

Re: RE: 18 kids...

  • Yeah, I sometimes wonder if the world would be better off if having kids was a priviledge instead of a right.  Not that I think it should be up to anyone to decide who is or isn't worthy of having children. More like, I wonder how the world would be if life was fair and only people who had children were the good parents who really wanted them and only had as many as they could realistically care for.
  • They ARE overdoing it.  I mean, yeah, they obviously love kids, but 18!?!  I wonder if she's had any m/c's?

They are definitely not followers of the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement.

I just read a little of that.  It creeped me out.

I know she had at least one. She was on BC and the BC caused a miscarriage and since then she hasn't been on BC (as if that isn't ovbvious).

  • What makes me sad is the way they treat the girls in their family. I watched the "jurisdiction" show where the boys and girls switched chores. They boys do things like change the oil and mow the lawn whereas the girls do all the cooking, cleaning and laundry for the entire house EVERYDAY. Each time a baby is born, the girls get another "buddy" or child they are responsible for taking care of.

While I agree with teaching children responsibility and having them participate in family chores, I do not agree with having a million children, which is an adult choice, and then putting all the work off on other children in the family.

To each his/her own, but I just feel sad for those girls!!!!

  • Opps! I responded before I read the post below....apparently lots of you already posted the same thing! AND, I didn't know about the dino thing! Un-freaking-believeable!
