Gift Dilemma- What would you do?

I lost a Christmas gift!  I got my parents a gift card and I can't find it anywhere.  The main problem is the gift card is for a place in New York since they'll be there in the Spring.  I can't just go get a new one, I have to order it online.  The first one came in pretty quickly so if I  order it today, it should be here in time for Christmas. But if I wait to see if the old one turns up, there's no way I'll have a new one in time.  Normally I would just get the new one to be safe, but I have no use for two, so if the old one turns up, I'll have wasted the money.  What would you do?

Re: Gift Dilemma- What would you do?

  • Is it a small place or a chain?  If it is a small place see if you can get the old one canceled and reissued.

    Cancer sucks.
  • Do you still have the receipt for it?  If so, you can contact the restaurant, explain the situation, and they can enter in the gift card number to see if it has been used - if it hasn't, most places will cancel that gift card number and reissue a new one to replace the lost one.  Might be worth a try!
  • I'd definitely try and contact the company and tell them your situation.  Hopefully you have the receipt and can give them some info. and  they can cancel the old one and reissue you a card at no extra charge!  Good luck and let us know what happens!

  • Thanks ladies!  I'll give them a call and see if they can reissue it for me. I wouldn't have thought of that :)
