Suggestions needed for cookie exchange

Hi ladies.  I am looking for some advice.....I have a neighborhood cookie exchange next Tuesday and I am trying to find a fun new recipe to make for the exchange.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - so if you have a tasty cookie idea, please pass it along.  TIA! - Emily

Re: Suggestions needed for cookie exchange

  • I just baked 21 dozen today with my mom--wow, I'm glad that I'm done! The cookies we made were?Oatmeal Peppermint Crunch,?Cranberry Orange,?Chocolate Ginger,?Chocolate Peppermint Blossoms,?Thumbprint Tarts and?Snickerdoodle.

?While I love??all of them and they are some of my favorite recipes the Cranberry Orange was new for us this year and they are absolutely delicious. Here is the link:?

We made the glaze, which really made them perfect, except I only used orange juice and 10x sugar.

The Peppermint Blossoms are like peanut butter blossoms, except we used this chocolate cookie recipe (and we did put some inside the dough which turned out well as well as one person recommended):

I also love the Chocolate Ginger and Oatmeal Peppermint Crunch. Let me know if you want any recipes!?

  • I did a cookie exchange last year and made cheery snowballs.  They are real simple and delicious.  Here is a link to the recipe http://www.recipezaar.com/Cherry-Snowball-Cookies-126916
  • I haven't made these yet, but I've been meaning to try them out.  They look fantastic!

  • How about the oreo truffles?  There are not too many ingredients and they aren't really tricky to make... if you search the nest, you'll even find tips.

http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/recipes/easy-oreo-truffles-95085.aspx is a link to the recipe on kraft foods.  I think there might be a recipe online that uses something other than cream cheese so that they don't have to be kept in the fridge.  Two tips - I used two forks to dip the oreo mix into the melted chocolate.  Also, you can put the oreo balls in the fridge or freezer for 20 minutes or so to chill them before dipping in the chocolate to help keep them together.  They are really yummy!  I made them for a cookie exchange at work and everyone loved them!  Plus, they're sweet enough that you can stop at one. :-)

  • PP's suggestion of the Oreo truffles is a good one - they're ALWAYS a hit, and couldn't be any easier (I'm chilling my THIRD batch in a week right now - this will make 12 dozen that I've made in 8 days for various events).  I also added into my rotation this year a batch of red velvet truffles, which were extremely well-received at my parents' party last night.

Let's see... in the past week, I've also made white chocolate chip cranberry oatmeal cookies, oatmeal raisin cookies, peanut blossoms, peanut butter no-bakes, chocolate cupcakes with peppermint icing, Frito candy, and I'm contemplating candy cane biscotti.  Let me know if you want recipes for any of those! :)
