Santa on the firetruck

Did (or does) Santa come to your neighborhood on the fire truck when you were growing up?  Usually on the Sunday before Christmas, the local fire company would send out Santa on the fire truck.  He'd throw candy or popcorn balls to the kids.

DH had never heard of this.  Of course, I grew up in more rural NEPA and DH grew up in the Philly 'burbs.

Re: Santa on the firetruck

  • Our town did not do this either.  It sounds like a fun idea though.

  • I don't know of any towns that did that, but it sounds like fun!
  • We had Santa and the firetruck come through our neighborhood yesterday!

We were up in Vermont for our honeymoon over Halloween and they had the firetrucks out and were taking kids from neighborhood to neighborhood to trick or treat. It was really cute.

  • I have heard of towns doing this is NEPA.  I never saw Santa on a firetruck growing up, but I know it has been done before.
  • They do that in our neighborhood now.  I'm hoping Santa comes by today!
  • They do this in the IL's neighborhood. Santa was actually out on the firetruck sitting on his sleigh as it drove throughout the neighborhood. There was also a smaller truck in front of the fire truck that would say things over the loudspeaker and also played Christmas music. It just so happened that Andrew and I were there when they came!
  • They always do that every year around where I live.  They come on Christmas Eve.  I remember running out to get candy every year as a kid.
  • Yes!  They did this in the neighborhood I grew up in. :)
