update-filed the insurance claim

I ended up calling geico and reporting DS's little mishap!

Since work has already been started I was a bit worried. But all they are requesting is the repair shop fax over the bill and I am to fax proof of payment. It will have to go through review but the rep says it appears to be a single car at fault collision so I should get reimbursed minus my $500 deductible.

If they reject it, oh well. I tried. And come renewal time in April I will know more about what his college situation is like. Maybe he'll go away and that will help the premiums. I also think I may drop the full coverage since the car is 8 years old now and has nearly 200,000 miles. I only put full coverage on it because I expected him as a new driver to probably get in an accident. And if after April he wrecks it, he is on his own with repairs or getting a new car.

Wow.  You expected an accident?  And expected to pay for it instead of him paying for it?  That would never have flown with my parents. If they expected me to get in an accident, I never would have been allowed to drive without them and certainly would not have been given a car to drive.

  • Does he pay any part of the insurance? I would make him pay the increase but I'm mean that way.

  • Um, please ignore my reply to your other post where I recommended not going through insurance. I hope it works out for you!
