We found out today that my Uncle who recently had a heart attack and heart surgery had some complication and a second heart attack. Needless to say the state of his heart is not well and they cannot re-operate bc of the damage that has already been done by the second heartattck last night. He was put on a heart transplant list today. He's only in his mid-fifties.
It really puts life in perspective when you think about what he and my Aunt are now dealing with. It makes me think of all the more insignificant problems we are dealing with and just how thankful we should be for our health . . even if sometimes its not perfect its still not dire or untreatable. I kept reminding myself all year while going through my own health problems with lyme disease, a bloodclot and my clotting disorder FVL . . it really sucks but I'm still here and it could be worse.
I'm not asking for prayers or thoughts . . just please give your loved ones an extra hug and let them know just how much you love and care about them. You truly never know when or what is around the corner. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas spent with family making memories they'll treasure forever. Sometimes its what makes all the difference in times like this.
Re: Cherish each moment
You are absolutely correct. I'm so thankful for my family and the time that we have together. Thank you for sharing that.
I'm very sorry for your uncle and aunt.
Thanks for sharing, and you're right, the time with family and ones we loved is what really counts no matter what we're dealing with. On Christmas eve there was an accident on the PA turnpike that killed a family, except for a 2 year-old child (both parents and another sibling were lost I believe) and my heart just goes out to that child and family to be having to deal with such a sudden loss. It always puts things into perspective.
