Sprintec birth control users...

Has anyone used this BCP??  What has your experience been with this pill??

thanks!

Re: Sprintec birth control users...

  • I've never even heard of it. I'd probably go with one that is more common.
  • I am prone to migraines, and Sprintec greatly increased the frequency which I got migraines.

My RE took me off Sprintec after he dx me with PCOS - the estrogen in the pill messed me up big time.  Now I take the min-pill.

    HTH!

  • Also, from what I remember, Sprintec is just a generic for Ortho Tricyclen
  • Is this the same thing as tri-sprintec?  the order of bcp I've used is:

ortho tricyclen, ortho-lo, some other generic, and now tri-sprintec...

I haven't had much problem with any - but the first few months on tri-sprintec I had mid cylce bleeding.  I was ready to go back to the dr. and get something new, but it seems my body has adjusted.  I was on a pill over 5 years before getting on this one.

It is tri-sprintec and it is the generic of orthotricyclin...I used to be on it. Went off b/c of bad migraines and bad moodiness.

  • I'm on it. It's the generic form of... something.

I noticed I have more headaches now that I am on it (started in June).

I don't care for the pill, anyway, but from what I understand, Sprintec doesn't slowly ease off the hormones in the pill like Yaz and some of the others do. So basically, I feel like there is a constant stream of hormones and then with the placebo, BAM, suddenly I am a raging, moody psycho.

Frankly, I hate it and if I can ever get into the ob/gyn I will have paragaurd placed and wash my hands of it.

  • Tri-Sprintec made me into a mega-***! I was crying non-stop over nothing for the month I was on it. Also, I would try to exercise and feel really weak and out of it. It totally messed me up so the doctor put me on a monophasic pill with a lower dose of hormones.

I didn't have any weird bleeding or anything while I was on it. It just really messed with my moods.

  • It's the generic for Ortho Cyclen (just Ortho Cyclen, not tri or lo).  I used to take it before I switched to Nuva Ring.  Never had any problems.
  • The pp is correct: Sprintec is the generic of Ortho cyclen.  I've been on it for about a year and haven't had any problems.
  • i was on it for about 4 years and no problems

  • I concur with pp, it is generic for ortho cyclen, not tri or lo. ?I was on it for a while and I didn't feel right. ?I couldn't really pin point what it was, but it was just an all around feeling of moodiness and crampy, etc. ?I switched to Ortho Cept and have had very good results. ?Again, everyone is different, especially when it comes to bc.
  • I use TriSprintec (the generic to a name brand..can't remember the name) and I do not have any problems. I have been using that pill for about 5 years.

  • It's funny I saw this post...as I was just discussing this with some friends. I got put on Ortho-Lo....really liked it but I had sample packs. When I went to actually fill the script, I realized that it was going to cost me 53 bucks a month. So, I got switched to Tri-Sprintec and so far I don't like it. I'm crying constantly over nothing and have less energy it seems. It's minor stuff but enough that I've noticed and it's bothering me. I'll probably switch. Everyone is different though. Good luck!

  • I've been on it for years with no negative side effects (I take it continuously for about 2.5-4 months at a time.)
  • After using ortho-tri-cyclen for years w/o any side effects I had to switch to tri-sprintec due to new health insurance. I started having the WORST PMS-super moody and crazy angry. From that I went to Yasmin and everything went back to normal. Good Luck!

  • I used this for a long time. I had some headaches mainly attributed to stress, but I'm now on a different generic for Ortho Tri-Cylcen, and I've had no issues whatsoever. It's called Tri-Nessa. ?

  • I used it for a few years, and I didn't have any issues with it.  It did change my actual flow a bit, but otherwise, it was fine.
  • I've been on it for about a year with no problems. Slightly heavier flow for a couple of days - but fine other than that.

  • i was taking sprintec birthcontrol and 71/2 months later i had a stroke. it completly changed my life .i had to have my tubes tied actually burned can never get pregnant again .so ican say i hate that birth control
