NYE plans...

So what are everyone's plans for New Year's Eve?  We are being torn by two offers.

1. Go to York and spend the evening with my BIL and his GF.  We would probably go out for dinner somewhere and then go to the York Hardware Bar to see a band that normally plays around our area (we know them pretty well)...Crush.  They are a DMB tribute band but they play all kinds of other stuff too...very fun to go see and hang out with.

2. Go with two other couples to the Mohegan Sun (our local casino) and spend the evening there.  Dinner would probably happen as well.

If we go to York, we have to take the pups to the kennel...and of course if we stay in our area, they would just stay home while we were out.  We have to make a decision by tonight.

Re: NYE plans...

  • We are going to see the Rocky Horror Show at the Strand in York.  I am boycotting the drop of the rose because they moved it from the square.  York will be fun, we have a lot going on that night.

  • Hmm, let me think...........I could hang out in my hospital bed or maybe I will hang out in my hospital bed.  Hard to say.  Oh well, this year I'm just hoping to be able to stay awake until midnight.  Oh and my MIL is bringing us shrimp so I have that to look forward to!
  • We're having friends over for a night of Wii, Rockband and Buzz!  I'm really looking forward to putting 2008 far behind me and welcoming in 2009 with friends.
  • I'm hoping I'll be fast asleep.  With this new baby, I need to sleep whenever I get a chance...New Year's or not.  I'm actually a little sad b/c this is the first year in a long, long time that I don't have plans with my college girlfriends.
  • We're going to do a fancy dinner with DH's family, then head to friends' for the night.  DH and the gang will probably play drinking games until 3 in the morning, and I'm hoping to stay awake for a sip of champagne and a kiss at midnight. :)
  • we will be having some family over and then kicking them out by 9 so we can go to bed!  Sleep is a priority, we are such fun people!
  • I'm hoping to be able to stay up until midnight!  We're going to Pennylane's for a fun night!

  • We are going to ring in the 2009 by playing Rockband, American Idol, etc... with jjenkins and morrenoles.  I am hoping for a moorenoles Black Velvet Encore!!

Be Safe everyone - Happy 2009!

  • SO and I are hanging out with my brother, SIL, niece and nephew.  We'll go out for dinner and maybe go bowling.  When the kiddos go to bed we are going to play games, including Seinfeld Scene It.  Not sure if we'll stay until midnight or watch the festivities from my house.

  • I'm also looking forward to putting 2008 in the past.  I'm sure Lesli and Ang will help kick off 2009 with a bang :)
  • A friend of ours reserves the clubhouse where she works for the evening.  We'll hangout, eat, play pool and Wii.  I'm also hoping to make it to midnight.  The best part is it's only 5 minutes from our house!
  • Have you been to Mohegan Sun?  We driven by it a bunch of times since it opened (I grew up outside of Avoca), but DH and I haven't stopped yet.  I'd be curious to get your impression if you've been.  (but now that I think about it, it's not like DH and I are going to have any time in the future to check it out, either, with the little one on the way...)

We have been a few times and it is a lot of fun.  The restuarants are pretty good.  It is just amazing to walk in there and within a few minutes you feel like you are not in Wilkes Barre anymore.  My DH said I would have to post his picture with the words "Don't Let This Man In" if they ever get table games...he is addicted to blackjack and the video ones suck in his opinion.

  • Tough call for you.

We're trying to decide if we want to stay home or go to a friend's house.

  • NYE is always crazy for our family.  DH is in a Celtic band, and they play at a nearby inn every NYE, so they'll be there from 5:30 - 9, then eating dinner quickly before heading back into town to play at the NYE celebration that our home church hosts for the community (we're just off the town square, so we usually fill up pretty well throughout the night by offering different bands, food, warm place to hang out).  They play there 10:30 - 11:30, then we go to the square to ring in the new year.

I tag along and make my own agenda... this year, I'm heading to the Inn for dinner with some friends and family and to hear the band, then coming back into town to go to the church with everyone else to help out there with serving refreshments before going to the square to celebrate at midnight.  We have people crashing here that night, so we'll head back afterwards to hang out.

  • Hope everyone has fun!

DH is in a band and usually has a gig on NYE, but he doesn't this year, so we are going to have a romantic night at home, yay! I bought filets and shrimp and I am going to make a nice dinner. We did get asked to a party, but we declined... it will be so nice to stay home!  This will be the very first time that we've been able to do this since we've known each other!

  • I have to work 3-11 so those are my exciting plans...blah.  Not that we do anything real exciting on NYE anyway...just usually stay home and eat and watch a movie.
  • We pretty much always stay in for NYE.  Reading sets off fireworks over the Pagoda at midnight and we have a really good view of that from our front porch.  This year we invited some friends to join us.  I don't know how many are coming yet but it should be fun regardless :)
  • Okay so I just found out that the band is NOT playing in York on NYE...so that means we are going to stay in our area and go to the casino with our friends.  I think that will be fun and hopefully(!) we will win some money!

  • We're going to a friend's house to ring in the new year with them and all of our friends from work.  It'll be a fun night of Wii, drinks, desserts, and who knows what other debauchery!
  • We are going to Jen's (pennylane) house to play games, eat, drink, and hang out.  Really looking forward to it since we NEVER have plans for NYE!
