Most of you know I Dh had received a job offer in outside of Houston,TX and so we moved him down in May and i was finsihing up things and then joining him. Well, its official. I'm now living in Sealy Texas! This of course went much smoother than our moving HIM down, but still not without things happening.
Dh had a flight back to Pa from Houston scheduled for Tuesday 12/23. back in October, we found out his Nan had stage 4 lung cancer that apparently had spread through most her body (to her bones) and also had a brain tumor. he visited her when he came in for thanksgiving and she was doing well. She hadn't started treatment but was pretty positive. Well, apparetly they shouldn't have even given her the one Chemo treatment she got, that weakened her so much, sh never recovered. As I said, Dh was suppose to get to PA 12/23, but his mom called him 1219 and said they didn't expect Nan to make it through the weekend. He was able to change his flight, but only to 12/22. luckily, that was good enough. about 4 hours after we arrived at her place, she passed away. two days short of her 77th bday (12/24) The whole cancer diagnosis was very sudden and a surprise to begin with. She didn't have any symptoms. Apparently the mass was located above her lungs, more at the trachea, which wasn't causing her any problems. The only thing that got them looking at her for any illness was that she had lost 15pounds in less than 2 weeks for no reason. Anyway, we didn't find out when the funeral was to be held until 12/24. The funeral was scheduled for 12/26 at 9am for family and for others starting at 10am. the moving company (yes, a good one this time for those following my saga) was to be picking our stuff p at 8am 12/26. And Dh was also to be a pall bearer. it took us until 6am 12/26 to finally get someone on the phone to let them know we needed to change the move date. Jack Trier,United Van Lines, picked up our stuff on Monday morning 12/29 at 8am. We left after loading the car around 3:30pm and drove straight through getting "home" at about 4:30pm (TX time) Tuesday 12/30. We actually missed a road along the way and ended up adding 3 hours to the drive, but oh well. It was relatively uneventful.
So, here I am....in Texas.
Happy New Year! May 2009 be the best year yet! please?
