Herbal tea drinkers, come in

I am in a rut with tea lately.  I drink at least one cup a day. I like lemon zinger, chamomile, mint, peach, and apricot.  Nothing too flowery.  I usually drink plain or with a spoon of raw honey.  It needs to be decaf since I usually drink it in the afternoon or evening. Any other suggestions that I might like?  What's your favorite tea?

Re: Herbal tea drinkers, come in

  • I like the Tazo apricot and blueberry white teas.  You can buy them on Amazon in bulk and save money.

  • i love tazo's mint tea - refresh...although mint was already on your list.

i would suggest buying stash's herbal sampler pack. there are ~10-15 flavors and all of them are pretty good - then you can pick out some favs. to buy an entire box of. ?i drink mine w/just a dash of splenda, but Dh drinks them all plain.?

  • I like chamomile, lemongrass, and spearmint.  I'm like you, I only have caffeine free tea.

  • Long Life Ginger is my favorite tea of all time.  They sold it in QFC and Whole Foods, but then it became hard to find.  I just order online now.  Here's what it looks like.  Maybe you'll see it in your grocery store.  If not, easy to order online.  I think drugstore.com also carries it.

  • Have you tried rooibos? It's herbal and comes in some amazing flavors. I suggest the Provence and Bourbon Street Vanilla (both can be found on Amazon).
  • Thanks for the suggestions.  I'll look into them.
  • The coffee shop near my house has blackberry and pomegranate tea that are both decaf and really yummy.

  • I love Good Earth green tea with lemongrass. The lemongrass cuts the bitterness of the green tea.

Yogi Tea has a lemon-ginger digestive tea that is super yummy.

White pear.  That sounds good.  Who makes that?  Also Celestial?

  • Yes, Celestial. It's actually a white tea I think. Maybe it's Pear White Tea? Dunno. Pretty good although I have to add a little sugar to it when I don't usually add it to the others. I think you'll like it if you like chamomile.

Edit: I just remembered that it was not decaffeinated. I recall looking at the box the other day and it had more caffeine than cola. Indifferent

  • Right now I am digging my Bigelow Ginger Snappy with lemon that I bought last week!

That does sound good.  But, yes, white tea has caffeine.  So unless it decaffeinated, it's gonna have caffeine.

  • 315bride--I saw a show on the discovery channel about a year ago and did you know that you can make any tea decaffeinated?

This tea experts said to pour boiling water over your leaves or bags in a cup and time it for one minute.  Then remove the leaves or bags and place them in second cup and cover them with boiling water and let is seep for 3 minutes.

Drink the second cup and throw out the first--apparently 98% of the caffeine  is released in the first minute of seeping.

I don't drink caffeine and do this all the time and I never get jittery.

I did know that it takes only a minute for the caffeine to maximize (3 minutes for color, 5 for flavor).  But I guess I never realized that you could do this to make it less caffeinated.  Smart idea.  Thanks.
