Hope everyone's holiday was wonderful! What did everyone get?
I got a Le Creuset dutch oven and skillet, some awesome books including the new Sarah Vowell and the Tales of Beedle the Bard, Mamma Mia soundrack and Blu-Ray, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 (seriously, I'm like 14, don't judge me), an Old Navy gift card, and some other nice stuff. Of course my best gift was my early one from DH - the Amazon Kindle!
I was really happy though because I found a great deal on a brand name digital photo frame for my mom, and she LOVED it. I loaded it up with some pictures, and she almost cried. I am so happy that it worked out so well!

Re: Any fun stand out gifts?
We did digital photos in a frame for H's M, F, and SM. Also we went in with BIL/SIL on digital frame w/photos for GMIL and GMIL. Those went over really well. Pretty much the same as yours.
I got RockBand2. I was delighted
We got a Keurig Coffee Maker. I did not realize that you can use this for hot chocolate as well! Since my husband doesn't drink coffee, this is a very good thing!
I had an awesome Christmas! Dylanite got me a new Blackberry, which I have been dying for. Its so cute and red
I also got new pots and pans (also in red, and also cute!), 5 books, a digital photo frame, & some GCs.
Other than my new crackberry, my favorite gift was all of the old home movies my parents put onto DVD for me. I think I have about 10 to watch now, and many of them are from when I was 5 or 6. Dylanite is really really excited to watch them with me
I got a gorgeous pair of Cole Haan boots from hubby, and we got eachother iPhones and Maui Jim sunglasses, so I cleaned up! ;-)
I also got some great kitchen gadets that I'd been coveting, as well as a Le Crueset tea kettle that's adorable!
DH got me my Coach purse and some Coach perfume.
I also got the new Scarpetta book and the FDR's Folly book so now I am ready for our book club to start next month!
And last night DH & I went to the movies and saw The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. It was pretty good. I guess it was being hyped so much I was afraid it wouldn't really be that good but it was. It is long though - almost 3 hours.
This gift stood out all right but it isn't a fun gift. Guess what my parents got us? A fruit basket. A fruit basket! You know, that thing that companies buy for their clients.
Technically, LLL's name was on the card but she doesn't really like any of the fruit in it, yet, so she got nothing from her grandparents. On her first Christmas. And she is their only grandchild. It's all very, very odd.
And, no it's not a money issue or anything like that. Hell, that I would understand if they said things were tight and they couldn't do anything. But nope, apparently just didn't feel like getting her so much as an ornament.
It's pretty out of character for them, too, which is what makes it odder.
Wow, IIOY, that is very strange.
What's with the grandparents this year?
We got a grill from my parents, but we got that when they visited in November, so that wasn't a surprise.
My husband got me this gorgeous blown glass business card holder (the kind that goes on a desk, not in a bag), so now I need a real job so I have cards to put in it.
My parents also outdid me on a present to my husband. He loves music - is a big collector of records and obsessed with jazz and whatnot - so I found these awesome coasters that were made from old records. I was so excited to give them to him. Well, my parents sent this big box of additional presents (they still spoil me) and so we are opening those along with our own. He's got two presents left, one from me and one from my parents. He opens my parents first, and it's the frickin' coasters. But, not just any record coasters. They happened to get a set that included his favorite musician in the whole wide world - this guy Leo Kottke. Yes, random and probably really rare. Nobody's heard of this guy, but my husband has seen him in concert a million times and practically stalks him. My parents ordered the set online and had no idea this guy was my husband's favorite...it was just luck that their set included him, right on the top of the stack. So, DH about had an orgasm he was so excited.
Needless to say, that was quite a buzzkill for me when he went to open my own set, which had much less exciting people in it. Grrrr.
DH got me a traveling speaker set for my iPod. It's awesome, self-charges, fantastic sound. I've been wanting one for a couple of years and now I have it!
my read shelf:
OMG!
So did I!
In Caribbean blue from the hubby. I about died for two reasons: (1) I always wanted one and (2) HE DOES LISTEN TO ME!!!!
May we have many happy dutch oven meals!
(and I got Guitar Hero for the wii! Ha!)
MINE IS ALSO CARIBBEAN BLUE!! We are dutch oven twins!!
Guitar Hero for the Wii sounds awesome, too!! YAY!
Big ole' geek I am I am...
Best gift:
DH got me a Nintendo DS Lite (the Breast Cancer one, dontcha know!) with a bunch of games...
Brain Age 1 & 2, Zelda, Castlevania, N+, some 6 Flags thingy...
...so much fun, he went out and bought one for himself yesterday...
I am the 99%.
The DS is awesome! I also have one. My favorite games are Puzzle Quest, Tetris, and Mario Kart. Highly recommend!
ESF - I LOVE Leo Kottke!!! He has a great album with Mike Gordon that's all island-y and chill. Love him!!! And now I love your DH.
I got a Prada bag!! I'm so excited about it, but I feel kinda weird carrying it around. DH got it from a family member that works for them, so it was at a deep, deep discount. I felt like a wacko carrying it into Big Lots to buy me some discounted laundry soap
Anything you can achieve through hard work, you could also just buy.
H and I got Mikayla a Burton Chicklett snowboard. So.freaking.cute! With the little bindings and boots it is too much! She hasn't taken lessons yet, but we had her snowboarding down the front yard and it was awesome!
We have been rocking a 27" tv in the living room forever and my mom got us a 40-something" LCD flatscreen and a popcorn popper for christmas. She kicks ass! She also got me a Kuerig coffee maker. I have drank a disgusting amount of flavored coffee in the past few days.
My BIL got H and I VERY good seats to see Wicked in NYC on the 9th. It is his Broadway debut (he's been on national tours with other shows) and I am super excited! Possibly the next day we will go to see Avenue Q because a close friend of his is in the cast and can hook us up with good seats there too. I love it!!!
LOL I love this visual! I would be sooooo excited about the Prada bag!
My MIL bought me a Kindle! I LOVE it! Its going to be fabulous for my commute
My parents got us an upgrade on our cruise which is amazing as well.
OMG! I love the Kindle. It's totally amazing. I've already read three books on it since I got it, which is sadly more than I've read in the last 2 years combined.
