A new year of wacky.

We were told today that our company will be saving money by not giving us 2009 calendars. We must supply our own calendars.

In what fabulous managerial brain storming session did this come to pass?

My other CW, who acknowledges the wackiness, said to me later, "Should I be worried about my job if they can't buy calendars for 8 people?"

She is very jealous of the free 2009 calendar a vendor sent me. Eat your heart out! It's all mine! All mine!

Re: A new year of wacky.

  • That made me giggle. The state stopped providing calendars (desk, wall or otherwise) a few years ago to save dough.  Although I can see how 80,000 calendars may be a more significant cost than that for 8.
  • I guess DH doesn't have to worry, he got his calendar. Haha

  • That's funny. I was going to say that it's understandable until you said there are only eight people. You'd think they just wouldn't mention it and hope no one noticed.
  • Watch out for Toilet paper quality!  That will be next.
  • We're already at one ply toilet paper! If they start handing out shovels and tell us to "take it out back", I'm quiting.

As my mom keeps telling me, I'm getting a lot of material for my writing. But I think it would need to be classified as fiction because no one would ever believe this stuff was real.

I rescind the shovel comment. Shovels are pricey. Can't have that.

  • My office decided on no more flavored coffee creamers or midol in the community first aid cabinet!
  • I was surprised to see the day planner calendar I've bought for the past 6 years has gone from $13 to $20!  Sorry your work has cut those out.

  • I also laughed when I got to you mentioning there are only 8 workers! But hey, I guess I'd rather have my job and one ply of toilet paper than no job at all. : )

We were informed to tell our kids at school today that they (the entire county) are turning the heat down to 68 degrees. Great. Kids are ALWAYS cold and already complain, so let's make them even more so and get more kids sick. But, it is supposed to save 100k over a year, so I suppose it is worth it. Pack your snowsuits kids!

  • Holy Crap, bridz2be...68 degrees?  My CW's would revolt!  They complain every minute the office is less than 74.  And watch out when their 3 cube heaters all plugged in 1 room's outlets blow a fuse...it's WWIII until the breaker gets flipped back on.  I pity the poor kids at the school though!

That reminds me, I never got my calendar from the UPS guy...

I hope the kids are ok!

68 seems warm to me, our house is currently 62 and I love sleeping with it cold.  Gotta love BGE bills.

We totally didn't get this memo!  In fact, I had one of the maintenance guys in my room right before Christmas cranking UP the heat because of how darn cold it was in my room - my poor kiddos were FREEZING and my fingernails were starting to go blue!  Looks like I better start layering up even more so than I usually do to survive this latest money-saver!

And OP - I'm pretty sure you could write a HYSTERICAL book.  You have the best ways of storytelling. :)
