Hey Ashlee! Just saw your post below about the heat. I can't believe they were cranking your heat up, lucky! The memo was from central office dated 12-31, but we don't get half the notices either, so no surprise there! While 68 isn't terribly terribly cold, for the kids it is really hard. And in our building, some parts get down to 62 or so since the building is so big and it can't keep up.

How is your year going? Mine is still going really well, although now I'm up to 24 kids. We've had a huge influx of kids lately--coming though, not going! I'm definitely looking forward to MLK day and those two days w/o kiddos!

Re: *ThePastorsWife*

  • Don't get too jealous over them cranking my heat - I think there's something wrong with my heat in my room because it's always fluctuating like crazy.

Case in point?  My room was 58 degrees today.  I kid you not.  I was SHAKING - I was that cold - and finally went and grabbed my big thermometer that I use when I teach about thermometers.  Yeah, no wonder I was cold.  Yowza.

The year is still going well.  Much more smoothly than last year, that's for sure, although this group of kids is just TOTALLY different from last year's.  There's always the challenges, of course, but it's amazing how much more you can handle when you don't feel like you're barely keeping your head above water!

And, um, MLK Day was what got me out of bed yesterday. :)  I'm so looking forward to that already, although I am not looking forward to inservice on Tues. (did you SEE which building we're being sent to?!  GAH.  So not close for us.).

  • Whoa, 58? I'm surprised they kept the kids in there, although really, where would you go?

I agree that this year is so much easier than last--although I account a lot of it to my kids. I had some tough kids last year with some serious issues and this group is just sweet and innocent for the most part. There are daily challenges, like you said, but nothing out of hand!

Hmm..think we can swing a two hour delay tomorrow? I have no idea why we ended up getting out early. Things are usually worse here at our house and it was fine, even at 4 when I walked Sadie. Oh well, I'll take these freebies any day!

I did see where you are. I totally lucked out and am only 5-10 mins from my house. I had no idea we wouldn't be at our own schools. Once again, in the dark.

GL getting through the rest of the week!

  • I don't bother mentioning the temp in my room anymore, because odds are good that by the time they'd get someone there to adjust it, it would be like the freakin' Tropics again. Stick out tongue

And I would LOVE a delay, but doubt it'll happen.  I think we ended up getting out today because of the predictions - the weatherman for ABC27 just kept saying, "I don't know what happened!  Look at this bubble over us!  It's going crazy all the way around us, but NOTHING in the midstate!"  I think it just ended up turning out differently than they anticipated (thank goodness), but oh well.  It's still a day on the books for us! :)

And yeah, that hike we have to take?  NONE of us on the K team know how to get there, so we're all piling into two cars and going together, but that's going to mean meeting at the building by 7:45 at the latest, since it's a 35 minute drive!  Blah.  So much for an easy day!
