I agree with the hate. It's ridiculous.
But it honestly doesn't surprise me. Teenage girls aren't exactly the smartest when it comes to naming their offspring. The focus seems to be on a creative, meaningful
name rather than the poor child. Well, teenagers and Hollywood-types (Apple, anyone?).
However, it wouldn't have been quite as ridiculous if Renee and Esme would have been - ohhh - Kate and Linda, for example.?

haha....i kinda did the same thing. i just kept reading it 'renee'. and for the record, of course people would call the poor child nessie. did she actually expect people to call her the FULL name? esmee is kind of hard to say by itself without complicating the matter.
I hate it too. But I hated it just a teensy (just a teeny tiny) bit less after reading SM's explanation for it. As she said, what do you name a child that is half vampire/half human. You can't give it a regular joe-shmoe name, right? (Well, I could)
But yeah, either way, the name absolutely blows. I sincerely hope people don't actually start using it as a real name now.

Although, after perusing the forum on the MySpace Twilight page and seeing all the tweens "awwww" over Renesmee - I really wouldn't be that surprised.

I totally had someone in my mind while saying that. She's 19 and has a daughter (with a perfectly normal name) but I could see her doing something like this. She's a TL fan too.
