Looking for an Ob. out of Middlesex hosp.

DH and I are thinking about TTC again and I haven't had an exam since my PP one in November '05 (I know!). But I don't want to have to drive all the way down to Wallingford, or further for my old Ob and I don't want to deliver at Yale again because it's so far away. I really liked Middlesex hospital when we took our childbirth class there and I went to their breastfeeding support group for a while too.

So, I am looking for a Gny/Ob practice that is not TOO big that works out of Middlesex. Our insurance is United Healthcare, but if you could refer your Ob, I will do the work to find out if they are in the network.

Thank you!

Re: Looking for an Ob. out of Middlesex hosp.

  • Crescent Street Ob/Gyn, right across the street from the hospital.  DH is a pharmacist there and that's where I'm delivering.  There's 3 Dr.s- Flagg, Bingham and McLeod.  # is 860-344-9993.  So far I'm really happy there.  And it seems like it will be really convenient since the Dr.s just have to run across the street to the hospital to deliver.  Plus I know Dr. Flagg actually lives right across the street too.  Good luck!

  • I also second Crescent Street OBGYN. I've only had one appt. so far, but the staff I met were great.
  • I had both my daughters at Middlesex, one just six weeks ago.  I have been to both Crescent Street and Middlesex OB/GYN, and I prefer Middlesex.  My favorite doctors there are Dr. Irons and Dr. Wei (both women), but Dr. Siegel did my c-section (at 2:30 am) and he was wonderful.  I hardly have any scar at all.  Middlesex OB has a small office across from the hospital and a bigger one on Saybrook Road and one in Essex as well.  I didn't have any major issues with Crescent Street, but I didn't think they spent enough time with me - I always felt rushed.  My mid-wife from my first delivery (Susan Davey) works there, and Dr. McLeod was present at my recent delivery (she assisted Dr. Siegel), and they were both great.  I think you'll be safe with either practice.
  • I delivered at Middlesex and used Middlesex OB/Gyn.  I really loved all the Drs there.  They all were very caring.  Dr. Wei ended up delivering Nathan and was pretty good.  Dr. Irons was there for most of my time before delivery and was outstanding.
  • Sounds like both groups are great.? I go to Crescent Street and I am really happy with how wonderful everyone is there.? They were there for me on a weekend to give me an emergency DNC.? When I got a rare type of Gyn cancer, Dr. Bingham called to talk to me and my husband on the weekend( & early morning and nights) and answer any questions we had.? When I was transferred back to their care after chemo, they were quick to pick up the ball and called to conratulate me on getting better.? My story is obviously much longer than this paragraph, but through it all they were just so wonderful.
  • I haven't needed an OB but Dr. Wei at Middlesex OBGYN has been my gyno for a few years and before her I saw Dr. Mueller (who moved to New Hampshire).  I've been really happy with that  practice and I'm actually not looking forward to finding a new OB/GYN if/when DH and I move.

  • I have used Middlesex OBGYN. LOVE Dr. Wei, and Dr. Irons (my 2 favs).
