I have to take insulin :(

No matter what I eat my blood sugar is whacked out so I need to take insulin twice a day.  I'm so upset.  I hate needles and now not only do I get pricked 4 times a day for my blood sugar, but now I get shots twice a day.  I can't even watch people getting shots on tv so I have no idea how I am going to do this myself at home.  I try to tell myself it is only for a month or two but I'm just so upset that I don't have control over any of this and I do everything as I'm told and it just doesn't pay off.  Sorry for the whining......

Re: I have to take insulin :(

  • Ohhh -- I am so sorry to hear this.  This is temporary my friend.  You are doing it to help you and your precious baby girl.  I can't imagine how frustrating this is for you.   I, on the other hand, have to much insulin, maybe we could do a transplant - haha!!  I gave my grandma insulin shots daily while she was living - I will help you if you need it!

Take Care - I will see you soon!!

  • Awww, Brandy...I'm so sorry!!!! Sad  Hopefully once you get used to it, it will be a piece of cake.  Close your eyes and think about something else.  That is what I do when I get my butt shots every week.  You are doing great...hang in there.  (((hugs)))
  • Hang in there Brandy...like Ang said it's short term and totally worth it to have a healthy baby.
  • That really stinks, Brandy.  I'm so sorry you have to add this on top of everything else.  I hope it gets easier for you.  btw - congrats on hitting 27 weeks!
  • That really stinks. I'm sorry you're going through all of this. At least there couldn't be a better reason to have to put up with everything you have.
  • Brandy I am so sorry- you have been through so much!!! I has to be frustrating!

    Congrats on 27 weeks!

  • Sorry you have to through this.  I used to hate needles until I had to encounter lots of them and now I am not used to them but I don't mind them nearly as much.  I hope you end up not minding them too.
  • that does stink with everything else going on but hey, you are at 27 weeks!! ?thats good news!
  • I'm sorry you have to take insulin now.  That stinks!  Just think though, every day you're getting one day closer to meeting your baby and keeping healthy along the way is so important.

I wouldn't be happy about having to get stuck so many times a day.  The upside is that the insulin needles are very small and thin.  Most of my patients say they can't even feel it when I give them their insulin injection.  I always pinch the area where I'm going to give the shot a little harder than usual, so they never even feel the needle go in!

Good luck and hang in there!!!

  • I'm sorry, that really stinks.  Just think, after all those hard work, you are going to have one awesome child because you put so much effort into it.

I hope it gets better for you!

  • I've been a Type 1 diabetic for almost 22 years so I have to take insulin to live!  At least yours is temporary!  Hopefully you'll get used to it.
