Actual air temp here right now is -18. Don't get me started on the wind chill.
I actually said a little prayer to all the gods this morning that court would be canceled due to bad weather.
Re: I'm frozen.
OMG! I actually thought of you this morning when I heard the weather forecast. I thought if it's this bad here, it must be worse in the Twin Cities! Stay warm! I recommend warm apple cider with spiced rum and cinnamon schnapps!
It's not too terribly bad here yet, but the cold air is supposed to start setting in tonight. Thursday's high is -3, with the windchills expected to be around -40. This will officially be the coldest weather I've ever lived through. I'm going to die.
That's funny... my car door was a little bit frozen this morning (nothing I couldn't pull to yank open) and I thought of you being stuck in your car and hoped Milwaukee wasn't as bad as it is here.
The weather report this morning said the wind chills in my hometown were -43. I think school was canceled there due to bad weather.
Ha! My first ever car door problem happened in South Bend. I opened my door, and some mechanism in the lock froze in that position. I tried to close my door, and it wouldn't close. My door was frozen open. I missed at least one class that day because I had to call a tow truck to fix it. It's a sticky little bastard.
I predict schools will be closed here on Thursday. Kids do not need to be waiting for the bus with -40 windchills.
Somebody came by to check our windows yesterday in preparation for the winter. That was a little scary. I'm completely paranoid our windows are going to blow off now.
We have plastic on our windows to stop drafts from blowing in. I'm sure they were just checking to see whether such was needed. In all my 28 years of living in Minnesota, I've never heard of a window blowing off except in a summer hurricane-strength wind storm.
Yes! But not to California, sorry! Over Christmas, the H and I were very seriously discussing our desire to move to Austin. If he can get a job there once he's on the market, we will go. But I do love Milwaukee. How can you not love a city with a bronze Fonz?
IMO SF is overrated - but I've been a burb dweller my hole life. I enjoy visiting but wouldn't want to live there. I could very easily do San Diego, that is a nice city.
Austin is good, nice weather and good economy, all the Semiconductor companies we have here have offices there.
Brrr. I am so cold too. This is going to be the longest, coldest, snowiest winter ever.
As I sat in traffic on the way to downtown today - I thought - why do I live here? It took forever to get home last night and forever to get in this morning.
I would love 20's and no snow for at least a week. That's all I want! Please?
LOL and not to mention there's nothing in Rochester anyway ;-)
While I do have to ditto lilm about Rochester kinda sucking (and you'd NEED a car if you lived there), this is apparently something like a 20-year record low.
