Jessa!

I saw you finished your ruffled scarf! Yay! Are you loving it? Any plans for your next project?

Re: Jessa!

  • I finished it and I love it, and it's for my sister and I know she'll love it too. Next I'm attempting my first in the round project *dum dum dum*, a matching hat and scarf for little (9 year old) BIL, as per his request. I'm half way done with the scarf, but have yet to start the hat. Also, I am going to do this circular shrug (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/circular-shrug ... I've been haunting ravelry since my invite came) which I am pretty excited about. I'm kind of perplexed by circular needles though, because they come in different sizes AND different lengths, which is confusing.
  • I love ravelry. It's the best compolation of knitting stuff I've ever found.

Circular knitting is pretty easy. I totally feel you on the selection of circulars. I have a huge collection of the suckers, but for some reason I never have the set I need for the project I want to start (like my husband's hat.) Keep in mind, though, you'll need a set of double points to finish off the last few rows (when you're down to something like 20 stitches). If you're buying a new pair, get some matching dpns. For a hat, you'll want a 16" cord on your needles.

Of course, if you learn the magic loop method, you'll never have to pick up a set of double pointed needles.

  • I watched a video of the magic loop thing, and it baffled me. I know knitting would be so much easier if I had a convenient grandmother who knew all of those things! I'll be sure to get some dpns.

    Tell me about it!

I haven't actually used the magic loop. It seem like a long way to go to avoid dpns, to me. Besides, I like my dpns.
