We've covered this topic on this board before, but I just got a friend request from my very first boyfriend. I think I am now friends with every guy I've ever dated except like two. Anyway, he friended me and wrote a message that was all "I totally understand if you don't want to be my 'friend', but I hope you are doing well no matter where life has taken you." Of course I said yes to his request. I mean, I can't imagine holding on to some sort of resentment since the 10th grade because he gave me the fade out and started dating one of my friends. But I do kind of feel validated that all of these old flames have found and friended me on Facebook rather than the other way around!
Re: Facebook and exes
Haha. The guy I dated junior year of hs was totally (and justifiably) pissed at me off and on after we broke up. I mean, I dumped the guy at the beginning of the summer, then cried, and so we got back together. Then toward the end of the summer he, I think, was trying to break up with me, but I didn't let him. Then I met an older guy and dumped my then boyfriend when I realized I had a chance with the older guy.
Anyway, though we're facebook friends (and I think he "unblocked" me from AIM sometime in college), we don't keep in touch. It was weird to see his wedding photos! Also, his sister (who was 6 when we dated), is now a teenager and looks so bitter, totally not how I'd picture her.
LOL...I totally felt validated too when a college ex found and friended me. It was so long ago, and we had actually seen each other socially as friends a few times since then, so it's not weird or anything. Ironically, not only are we both lawyers now but we practice in the same field.
The more important issue though - is he married? How well has he aged? Can you gloat about your awesome and glamorous life?

You can enter your former name so that it's searchable but not displayed anywhere.
I've also had the same email address since I was 10, so that helps.
My maiden name is added to my full name even displayed. So Meghan Maiden Married.
I just went through and looked for my old elem school classmates (my family moved summer before 7th grade so all my HS friends dont go that far back). THAT is weird - seeing pics of people you havent seen since you were 11...(one I found was my elem-school-long HUGE ginormous crush - doesnt look like he is as cute as he was at 10... lol)
?
I just dropped my maiden name (now my middle) from my facebook name a few weeks ago. ?For some reason the three names just sounded kind of pretentious together. ?If someone searches for me under my maiden name I will still come up though.?
Ha. He is married and has a couple of kids. He's not aged all that well. He works in a guitar store, lives in Arkansas, and does a lot of political stuff on the side. So yeah, I can kind of gloat about my high power political life in DC and the fact that my husband is a much better guitar player than he ever was!
Sue - what do you do??
