(#) Thursday Check-in

How's it going?

I'm doing fine.  I have my Wii Fit now, and was surprised at how awesome some of those exercises are!  Hula Hoop is totally hard.  The coolest thing is that Spark People actually has values for Wii Fit, so it can be entered in.

B: 2 Whole wheat Eggo waffles, 2 Morningstar Farms sausages (this breakfast is a bargain, because even with 1 T of syrup, it's only 274 calories!)

L: Falafel and hummus on a pita

S: Quakes, orange

D: Boca burgers, Alexia potato wedges, salad

Re: (#) Thursday Check-in

  • Hi ladies!  I've been doing the stomach bug diet.  I don't recommend it.  Now that I'm much better, I'm going to get back on track.  Also helpful is the fact that people are already starting to give up on their NYR, so I can get back into my gym at a decent hour finally Smile

    B: cheerios

L, S and D are up in the air, because I've failed to go grocery shopping this week (DH has otherwise had a full plate, otherwise he'd have gone).  Depending on when we're able to get out to the store, I'll make a decision on this.  I don't think my body's ready to get back to the gym just yet, but I'm going to go out and get some fresh (cold) air in my lungs.

  • I didn't get up and go to the apartment fitness center today. Not sure that I will make it there this afternoon because even the thought of walking the 20 yards over there in the cold makes me cringe. I may do step, or I may be lazy. We'll see. I'm looking forward to Saturday, when I'll be going swimming again, and next week, when I'll make it back to kickbox class.

Overall, things are going well. The H is trying to follow his points guidelines, so it helps that we can encourage each other and that nobody is sabotaging me by buying junk food.

B: instant breakfast; yogurt, granola & berries

L: whole wheat ravioli with tomato sauce

    S: string cheese, clementines

    D: vegetarian chili & cornbread

  • I hit the gym again last night - go me!  it's so nice to be back there.  I can't believe this back injury so completely derailed me from exercise.  I'm still hurting, but I think I'm just going to exercise anyway, b/c it can only help.

My eating is all jacked this week, b/c we're out of food and I have been going to the gym instead of to the store!

  • Glad you're feeling better, mrstlcs.

    Yay soprano! That's awesome.

Things are okay here. I'm not sure when I'm going to work in my next C25K run, because I have some busy days ahead, but I am going to try to fit it in. Am going to my strength training class tonight because I missed it on Mon.

B: was running late this AM, so just v8

L: morningstar burger over brown rice (I know it sounds weird but it's yummy), side salad

Where are you in your cycle?  My weight always goes up a couple pounds right before I get my period.

I'm doing good!  I was supposed to go out with friends tonight, but that fell through.  I'm secretly relieved because I can avoid the alcohol temptation.

But, now I need a dinner plan for tonight since I didn't have one before.  I don't have much in the house because our farm share comes tomorrow, so I'm not sure yet what I'll make.

Bunny, what are quakes?  I've been wondering this all week.

They are mini Quaker Rice Cakes:

They are delicious.  The cheddar variety is almost like Cheetos.  And it's only 70 calories per serving!

Hey, I feel you! For me, learning that the scale is just a number is a weird thing. When I go up, even when I know I'm supposed to (ie, right before my period), I get so upset. Part of what I'm doing to combat this is weighing myself just once a week. At WW. That's it. The bathroom scale at home is pretty much for DH's use at this point. How often are you stepping on the scale?

I feel like for the first time in a long time, I've finally got my mojo back. I'm working out every day--adding more cardio into what I was already doing; I'm religious about my eating and journaling all my food. Heck, last night I went to Cheesecake Factory for dinner with a friend and had teriyaki chicken and steamed rice for my entree (I actually brought half home for DH)...I skipped the pasta or chicken I'd normally go for...And for dessert, we decided to split cheesecake.

My "split"? Two bites. That was it. Not bad at all for a night at Cheesecake!

mmmm...cheetos.  I may have to check these out.

For PGH and others frustrated by the scale...I'm actually like to step on the scale every morning.  I have definitely noticed the effect that bigger dinners, several drinks the day before, dehydration, a few days without exercise, etc has on my weight each morning.  Once I started to realize how my body weight changes based on what I was eating and doing as well as what my period did to it, I'd stop freaking out when I weighed two more pounds after having 3 beers the night before, because a day later, I'd be back down again.  This may not be helpful advice for you...everyone's got to do what works for them.  But I know for me, it does help.

Also, are you on a digital scale?  Mine is wonky. Some days, I can try weighing myself 3 times in the span of a minute and have the weight vary by 3 pounds or so.  Some days, I get the exact same weight, give or take a 10th of a pound, all three times.  I'm not sure what causes it.  But, again, since I have a decent idea of how my body reacts to food and exercise, and since I weigh myself almost daily, when it does it's weird thing, I can usually speculate as to which weight is the most accurate.
