update on my dog--she is allergic to wool!

Some of you may remember back when I posted about my dog, Allie, having issues with belly sores, licking her paws, etc. Well, after almost a year of eliminating possibilities, restricted food diets, etc, we had the allergy testing done and she is allergic to wool...and 6 other things--mixed trees, grass, timothy, landscorder (sp--not sure what this is). Ugh, my poor pup! So, the next step is allergy shots, which are $$$, but if it helps to relieve her itching, licking, etc., it will so be worth it. I can't wait to have my healthy pup back in action--hopefully these shots do the trick!

  • Poor puppy!  What a relief to finally figure it out though!

  • Oh, poor Allie!  It sucks that you have to give her the shots, but I'm glad you were finally able to narrow it down. I hope she's feeling better soon!!
  • Your poor puppy, I'm glad that you have some answers.  Wool would have been probably impossible to figure out by conventional methods. I really hope the shots work and your dog can get some relief.

My parent's dogs have some outdoor allergies too.

  • So regular allergy meds..pill form aren't strong enough? Poor pup. Butter's has it bad for grasses, especially dried or weeds found in fields.

  • No, unfortunately, regular allergy meds aren't cutting it. She's been on benadryl, zyrtec, and prednisone and they didn't work. I wish they would've--it would've been easier on our wallet!
