What's wrong with sweatpants?

in the post below a couple of you said that sweats are only appropriate for minimal things... I disagree!  says the new mom who lives in sweats :o)

granted, they are no business attire, nor professional enough to be worn to work...  having said that, I have worn sweats to work on spirit days, professional development days and when I know that the kids are not going to be there.

I think they are comfy, keep me warm and some of them are freaking expensive!

Re: What's wrong with sweatpants?

  • Unless they are the yoga pants type,  I honestly think sweatpants look dumpy.  Like pajama pants,  they have a purpose,  and should stick to that use.   There are plenty casual pants styles that are warm and comfortable,  but are suited for outside the home.

I have lingerie that is more expensive than my normal dresses,  but I still keep it to its use. Stick out tongue

  • i am obsessssed with sweatpants and wear them on a regular basis.  PINK sweats are freakin' cute as well as my juicy suits. plus i was an athlete my whole life and i've got to put all those sweats to good use haha. granted i'm sure some of the more athletic types look "dumpy" but it's not like i'm wearing them out to dinner.
  • I love sweat pants.  The first thing I do when I come home from work is slip into my sweats.  I have several pairs, they're nice enough to go to the market or Target in.  They don't have the elastic on the bottoms of the legs and they have a good cut to them and some are in cute colors or have cute designs on them.

I would never wear them to work but I don't think there is anything wrong in wearing them to run errands or just hanging out at a friend's house.

I'm wearing mine right now.  Wink

  • If they don't have the elastic on the bottom (which honestly doesn't flatter anyone) they look more like yoga pants,  and not as home bound.   Like track pants they are ok for casual run around,  but the though of wearing them to work boggles my mind.  You don't have to be fashion forward or use much effort to have a bit of class to your dressing.

  • I'm a huge fan of sweatpants (yoga pants), and velour suits. I wear them all weekend. I couldn't wear them to work though.
  • I live in yoga pants and other lounge wear, but I wouldn't wear it to work.
  • I have no problems with sweatpants as long as they are worn at appropiate times.  I wore them everyday when I worked in daycare.  However, in a professional type position they are no good.

  • I also want to add I wear yoga type sweatpants almost all the time on the weekends.  With the post below I pictured the heather gray elasticed bottom hanes sweatpants and cringed.

  • Does anyone still own elastic bottom sweat pants? ?I think that these days when people say "sweat pants" they are referring to yoga pants, or similar activewear pants that are straight leg or boot cut.

I love my yoga-sweat-whatever-pants and I wear them whenever I can. ?It's cotton heaven.

    Ditto!

  • Actually I do own sweatpants with the elastic at the bottom....lol (I'm wearing them right now actually), however I never wear them outside of the comforts of my own home. I also own a ton of the yoga, PINK sweatpants. And no they are not appropriate for work.

  • I love my yoga pants.  My mom has the elastic bottom type of sweatpants that she wears when she exercises and around the house.  When I was at LabCorp the other day there was an old lady wearing pink elastic legged sweatpants with the matching pink sweatshirt.  She looked so cute.
  • well Ill clarify about my earlier post.  They werent elastic at the bottom, but not yoga pants or nice sweat pants either.  They were clearly older and faded.  I myself wear whatever we are calling the other kind of yoga pants (ill call them my comfys) out and about and about running errand all the time.  but of course there is a time and a place for them
  • I just donated $20 bucks to Gilda's Club so that I can wear yoga pants to work on Friday's during the month of Feb.    I am very envious of the PE teachers who get to wear them everyday (unless they are teaching health for the MP)Stick out tongue
